modifying power feed?

so im thinking about sawing off the top of my classic powerfeed so as to lower my profile. any ideas?? will the exposed metal surface rust ? will my rate of fire be effected?

The powerfeed bodies are made from stainless steel, so they won't rust. Feed rate shouldn't be affected by shortening the feedneck.

use a pipecutter for a clean cut and then a light file to clean up the edge :rolleyes:
