View Full Version : X-Valve - How fast is it in fact?

Hi,

AGD says, the X-Valve shoots up to 26bps without any shootdown. Is it really that fast out of the box?

Its hard to believe. For instance hopper manufacturer are telling us, their hoppers can feed up to 30 balls (haha). In fact they do 18-22. And the manual of my car says "...Vmax 220km/h"...", but it does (downhill with tailwind) just 190km/h...

:ninja:

Example:

- A brand new X-Valve with red spring.
- Tight lvl10 carrier to prevent chopping fragile tourney paint
- Tank with a 1000psi output preset
- EP converted Mag

So, does the X shoot the granted 26 ball out of the box?

While the valve is capable of 26cps (some even reported close to 30), it doesn't necessarily mean you're going to be able to pull the trigger that fast.

So yes, out of the box the valve is rated for 26cps without dropoff but the reality of seeing that ROF on a field is not likely.

I don't want to shoot 26 balls per second (I usually do around 12 or 16 ramp). Just want to know, if it can shoot that fast out of the box.

Stock X-valve with a good flow of 950 psi air will do a reactive 19 bps easily.

I've been card punched for that ( ) and haven't really tried more than that, but it seemed like the system had topped out because it took a fair amount of pressure reduction to get the rate to start dropping. I think the flow from my max-flo inline was topped out, even though I could set the pressure up higher.

Idk if you cranked a dynaflow up past 1000 psi that it would push more than that. Obviously, the unregulated 2k scuba tank has good flow. :D

Yes, a brand new Automag is capable of shooting that fast out of the box. No false advertising from AGD!

However, your capabilities with a brand new Automag may vary. It is a mechanical trigger so you probably wont be so impressed with its performance in comparison to an electro. But those hurdles can be overcome. An electro frame or pneumatic conversion will put it on par with anything else out there.

Zak Vetter got ≥34bps out of his 'mag, so yes, it's very fast. Probably faster than anything short of a blowback that's missing its sear (and good luck feeding that).

Keep in mind all that 26bps means is that it can shoot 26bps without losing velocity - it doesn't mean that you'll be able to pull the trigger that fast or that your tank's regulator will be able to recharge fast enough to feed it. Rest assured, though, it will be the rest of your rig that needs to keep up with your X-Valve, not the other way around.

Remove the top on/off o-ring and you'll find out how fast it is.

What modifications did the gun Zak used for the 34.5 have? He said it was his friend's gun. Was that X-valve really stock? Any special O-rings or volumizers?

I guess with loads of air (1500-2000psi) to hyperactive the valve.

I thought it was 3000 right out of a SCUBA tank... that's the max rating for the X-Valve... but I don't know about any shootdown, and you're sure as hell not going to drag that with you on field... hopefully :D

it was 1800psi. But I want to know if there was anything special about the valve.

BTW I plan to set up a tank reg to 1800psi eventually. Hardline and everything.
