whats up? i'm new to the forums and to automags. i recently bought an rt classic off of ebay and simply love it. i've been looking for a short barrel (8" or shorter) for a mag but can't seem to find one. if someone could direct me to a site where purchase one that would be awesome. or am i going to have to get a mag to cocker thread adapter? thanks

hack saw for the win!!!

I just picked up a beauty of a barrel. It is 16 inches long. I'm only looking for about 8 inches. So I am going to cut it and file it.

Unless you are trying to build a beauty queen of a marker this will probably be your cheapest and easiest way.

Here's your other option:

Freak back and a 1.5" front. Total about 6.5".

And it doesn't look like someone took a hacksaw to it

Only problem with that is you are using a ule body.

He needs a twist lock option.

The twist lock to a/c adapter are about 3 inches long. Plus a freak back and that tip. Will equal about 9.5 inches.

And will cost about $80-90 without any inserts.

I have a crown point barrel that size, you can't buy em anymore, maybe you can find one in the bst. I however, am not letting mine go unfortunately, so your search will be hard.

What's wrong with minimag barrels? And. . . I know some people are going to kill me for this. . . but what's wrong with a hacksaw?!

theres nothing wrong with a hacksaw, as long as you do it right and make it look clean :p

That tip will work just fine if he gets a twist lock freak back.

You are correct.

I was thinking of that barrel exactly. The wwa stump barrel is only a/c threaded.

I know it was mentioned earlier..the stock minimag barrel should be short enough. If not, hacksaw (or milling for the fancy shmansy) to it will do the trick since it's just Al (there is probably a clear coat, i don't know).

Just beat me to it...Armson still has those barrels in stock.

Also, call around local paintball stores. A lot of them have twist lock barrels just sitting there gathering dust. Within the last year or two I've bought a Dye Boomstick (you can get fronts for those any length), Brass 8", and a Freak twist lock back from a local store.

I've never found twist lock barrels to be that hard to find. Try a store called PW Paintball ( www.pwpaintball.com ) Paul is a great guy and has been around since at least 1995. He's got a ton of stuff just sitting in the back room. The last time I was in there I saw a couple of short brass twist locks that he was putting together for a sale on M Carter Brown.

One thing I should say about brass barrels if you run across any is that they make the nicest pinging sound when you fire...a little like the crown point barrels, but sound more like brass shells being ejected from a gun. :D

Instead of a hack saw, use a pipe cutter.

You can get them at any auto-store for like $10. They look and function like c-clamps, only instead of jaws there are cutting wheels.
Clamp it down, 2 full rotations (of the whole cutter around the pip/barrel), tighten, 2 full rotations, and repeat until the barrel falls in 2 pieces. Then a little sand-paper to the muzzle to dull it and you are done! No hack-sawing, no dealing with filings, no cutting yourself, no filing; just clamp, twist, light sand, and all shoot.

I was expeirmenting with my stock 98 barrel, they aren't even honed and the bore is huge so I figured if there is abarrel I don't want it's that one. I took the muzzle-brake off the front no problem.
Maybe if you do the same and just take the crown off the stock 'mag barrel it should look and shoot fine.
