I recently purchased an RT Classic valve from the classifieds, but I don't know what to think. Please post your opinions.

what serial numbers?

Wish I could help you out but I have no idea what that is. Bigevil, or tunaman might know.. and endless list of other experts on here.

Sorry, it's an RT Classic valve. The lack of serial numbers, and the appearance of the location where they used to be is what concerns me.

I think it may be hot. I'd look into it if I were you.

glad to hear you got it, about the numbers thats how i had received it a few years ago the guy was gunna anno it it he said but needed money for school and need to fix his car or something
This is the relpy I got when I asked about it. He may be telling the truth about how he recieved it, but I think he should of disclosed this fact when listing it for sale. Also, he has ignored my PM's and emails even though his profile shows activity after they were sent.

It looks like someones made a copy of a Retro valve. The front section looks right, but as for the back and the middle...Mmmm...As for the serial numbers i do have a Classic valve the used to have all the numbers and Automag logo on the valve, but they've long since worn off the valve. Now it has no writing on it whatsoever. So it could still be a genuine valve. If it works reliably then it probably is genuine. Some nice marks on it from a pair of grips. Ouch!

It's a Classiv RT valve, didn't think that would be much of a mystery. The removal of the serial nymber is what concerns me.

Yeah, those scratches seem too conveniently placed to be genuine.

Who cares? Why do you care?

Kinda weird in itself that you were able to obtain a classic RT valve separately.

"hot" give it to the local police if your concious weighs too heavy on you, otherwise...who cares.

If someone listed a valve with the serial number removed would you buy it? I wouldn't have if I had known.

Yeah I wouldnt have bought it either.

Fortunately your dilemma is a small one. If this happened when the valves actually had value, it would be a different story. Today those valves are worth less than a classic valve and really..no one is missing that valve I am sure.

If it was a gun with value id want to find the owner but for something like that i wouldnt bother.

Problem is I have parts to complete a marker. These may not be worth much seperate, but would sell as a completed marker.

Who cares? Why do you care?I would care.

I hate thieves. I honestly think thieves should have their hands cut off. They're the scum of the earth, down there with child molesters.

I personally would never knowingly buy anything stolen because I won't contribute to the problem.

I am in the process of tracking this valve, we will see how far I can get with it. The seller has finally offered to return this purchase, at the very least I want my money back. Thanks for your thoughts. I definatly belive this is stolen, and should have not been sold here. This hurts the reputation of this community.

The serial number on my RT was scratched off by some idiot that stole it awhile ago, It, since then has been a pain in the BUTT to sell. Today, I was messing with some of the attachments on my dremel, and got out the metal wire wheel one. I just started rubbing it over where the powertube serial number is for some reason. It polished all this black crap that was over it, and now I can kinda make out what it says RT034XX, weee. The valve serial number is scratched though:(
Found this in pbreview.com archives. Serial number matches, but doesn't seem to match sellers story.

At one point I had a spare. Not that unusual.

I guess I should have been clued in by the seller parting out a RT Classic. He had the rail, body, and everything else. Now that's "unusual".

no actually the valve will no longer be under warranty due to the missing serial number.

actually you can still see it vaguely.
I bet you 5 dollars you could send it in to get it serviced.

it's definitely RT0341 but the final number looks like it could be a 5 or 6.

any one know if these get laser engraved or stamped? i don't know that there is much you can do if it was lasered on, but if it's stamped you may be able to restore it somewhat if you acid etch the area. it works ok most of the time when we're trying to restore SNs on firearms, but for an RT valve i don't offer guarantees.

yes there is a 6 at the end. dont see the RT part though?

I know what the serial number is, didn't post it here to protect the inoccent. I have since had the numbers searched through a stolen property data base, and apparently wasn't reported stolen. So have fun guessing, but I'm still not telling. ;)

i was trying to provide the serial # so that you could look in the stolen equipment thread and possibly find out if its legit. hope for the best and that it isn't stolen.

Have you looked at that thread? It's a joke, maybe 3 or 4 specific descriptions, and over 5 pages of BS. Out of those specific decriptions, I think I saw one that they knew the serial number. Thanks for trying to help though.

Edit, I have tracked this as far as I can. The serial has never been reported as stolen.
