Ok, so I got my mag, fixed a few problems it had from the start (stripped screw, old paint still in between the body and rail, bad air-fittings) and now aside from a new o-ring kit and a few missing screws (replacements/spares coming soon) it shoots great.

Here's a pic:

The sight was just a temporary thing

But I couldn't help but notice how unbelieveably tall that powerfeed is.

Now, there is a ring where the finish wore off on the feedneck that is pretty much a perfect guide to shorten the feedneck so the warp elbow or a regular 45* elbow would just about touch the mainbody.

Before I do anything, I figured I'd post here and ask:

Is there any reason at all why I should not put a pipe-cutter to this? If there is some unforseen reason that the feedneck has to be that tall please tell me before I make an irrepairable cut. I know the original reason why powerfeeds were tall (to accomodate fast rof with shake-n-shoots), but is there a reason why today?

Thanks guys.

Glad I'm now a true 'mag owner instead of just some guy in the mag-owner forum :headbang:

I don't own a warp or qloader so don't take my word for it.

Having said that, i don't see why you can't cut it to length. I would make sure to not cut too much in case you want to go back to a normal feeder.

I have a cut standard feed, i'm glad it cut it.

Ive cut several of mine for standard feeds, works fine for me. But as michbich said u prolly shouldnt cut off too much unless u plan to always use the warp.
Had to cut mine with a air powered cutoff wheel tho, dunno if non industrial lvl pipe cutters will work. (although, i did see an industrial lvl pipe cutter at home depot that u might be able to use)

I used a normal pipe cutter. I'm not sure if it was the standard blade but I don't see why i would have had a harder blade on it.

There is a very long parabolic feed plug you can put into the top of the feedneck and then attach the warp feed to the bottom. No cutting involved.

Wouldn't the tube get in the way if it feeds from the right? I'd find that set-up combersome.

I agree with michbich, I've tried that (I have the plug) and I just don't see the point. Maybe if it was hopper right powerfeed it'd make more sense.

But overall, my idea was to lower and help clear the sightline more than anything else.

I've measured standard screw-lock elbows and they seem to run the same dimentions as the warp elbow. It shouldn't be a problem fitting both.

I've done plenty of milling and cutting on my Tippmann 98, I know that adding metal is infinitely harder than taking it away.
Start with more, and work it down slowly...

'K, I'm going to go for it.

No go... my pipe cutter broke
Whatever, I got it for like 5 bucks anyway.

Let me know how this turns out and what you finally use to cut it. I'm definitely considering doing this to my old standard body for scenario play. The hopper just sticks up WAY too far for me and I'd love to cut both the hopper down some (it's a ricochet 2k) and the feed. I could probably drop that hopper height by about 2.5 inches at least.

A pipe cutter with a good blade will give you the best results. Some people use the hacksaw or dremel instead. But to get a good straigth cut, it's the pipe cutter by a long shot. You will get a burr that forms, so you will need to sand the outside and inside edges.

My cutter broke. It was cheap anyway so whatever.

I'm going to pick up a better cutter tomorrow so I'll post later.

Quick question though, none of the 45 elbows I've tried fit the powerfeed... is there a special automag elbow you need? I tried the one off my trracer, I've tried the plastic screw-clqmp type ones... :(

If the trracer has the same elbow as my razzorback and unibody phantom. It's the wrong type of elbow.

yeah, so where can I get an elbow that fits a mag?

I have a standard screw lock 45 and it seems to work fine on my mag. It's screwed as tight as it can go basically, but still works :)

Ok, so I found a feedneck that works so one thing down.

And I picked up a good pipe cutter and got to work :headbang:

With the warp elbow. For comparison see my OP. It is a world of difference :shooting:

I cut it in two pieces. The first piece was too small, but using as a guage I cut the second bigger piece. I got it as close to perfect as makes no difference.

And what I did with part of the feedneck.

I'm going to get it lasered/engraved with the collatre symbol and AGD alternating around :hail:

Happy that your feedneck cutting went smoothly

Yeah, if you don't count the fact that the second time I mounted the cutter crooked, ended up with a spiral cut, had to "rock" the cutter, having to file and sand off some extra metal, and ended up with a half inch metal shaving all the way in my finger

I'm happy with the result though :shooting:
