View Full Version : What rises from the ashes...

This thing was a mess when I got it. Old paint was turning the rail finish, all the o-rings were shot, the bolt sping was worn, the reg-pin was destroyed, most of the screws were stripping or stripped, the hardline was dented...

Yesterday courtesy of "person" I recieved an o-ring kit and a bolt-bumper (thanks a lot) and today I got a few spare parts straight from AGD, so I got to work.

Now, with the help of some tools, air-fittings, teflon tape, loc-tite, and love she is reborn.

Behold Pheonix (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0mtcggZULk), what once was ruined becomes a supreme force!

I know exactly how you feel. I can't even imagine how the ROF must have been marveled at in '96.

This thing RIPS :shooting:

you might try and watch your language this time, they tend to be sticklers about usuing curse words on this forum, even in videos :nono:

awesome story though, nice gun

Wow, it's become a part of my language and the local slang so much that I don't even notice when I do curse.

I'll have to review my vid and see if I can catch it, lol :p

Putting it here isn't editing........

I do apologize, I'll try and tone down the language if and when I make another video, I was just super excited :headbang:

Seeing that video of your Classic RT almost makes me want to go out and find the parts to recreate another warp monster...almost.

There is still something really cool about the whole contraption that is the warped mag. Get an RT valve, slap on an adjustable tank with the pressure turned up. Just fun stuff. Always catches so much attention at the field.

Enjoy your newly revived toy.

I know how you feel. I just brought an old neglected RT back myself. Pics of the recovery here: http://www.automags.org/forums/showthread.php?t=235145

Enjoy it. I know I'm enjoying mine more than I ever thought I would.

Lol, yeah.

I doubt I'll actually be firing that fast in game though, I just wanted to push the capabilities to see what I could get away with.

Here's some pics:

If you can't see, the valve and reg match. Serial isn't too bad either: RT01798

Specs are a Lapco drop, AGD bicycle grip, AGD warp and accessories, Ricochet AK, Benchmark double trigger frame, 32* 0-1200 psi guage, Nitro-duck .68/3000 tank, black macro 90*s and line, and soon to come Lapco Bigshot (provided I find a black one or ULE this thing somehow).

Sight rail is a little banged up and I believe there is still dried up paint in the milling, but right now I can't really do anything about that. It needs a soak, sand, and re-paint...
But overall the condition of the marker is great IMO!

Comments please! :D

u might wanna get an on/off asa, might need a new drop if the one u have can't be upgraded.

Great to see the thing finaly up and running Watcher, and as far as getting an on/off asa it is more of a personal preference. If you can put one on there and feel like it, go ahead. Otherwise go with what feels more comfortable to you, id rather break a few more o-rings rather then have a drop that feels uncomfortable.

No way, I love that drop. The only drop I've ever liked.

As for on-off, I don't see the point when I can unscrew the tank. I don't see why I'd want the tank on the gun if I'm not going to be shooting it anyway, that's just more stress on the bottle-neck and bottomline and it raises the question of whether or not the gun is aired up when the tank is on it. A mistake there could mean serious injury.

Sure it is convinient, but it is not for me...

There is a purge on the ASA, only that o-ring was on there since I bought the tank :p

If anything I'll add a slide check before the macro-fitting

Don't feel bad about short stroking with that benchy frame... I used to have one on my classic mag and it was short stroke city! The trigger pull is nice and soft though. :)

The pull is great! I'm suprized how well it snaps and how quick it engages, though the safety, frankly, sucks and the no return spring makes me sad when I'm bored in my room but I know it doesn't need a return spring anyway...

Is short stroking necessarily bad for the marker? I kind of am tempted to learn how to effectively short-stroke so the next time some agg kid thinks it is cool to bonus ball I can walk right up to him and go "k-tss, k-tss k-tss, k-tss" and have him just sit there and watch the paint bounce off his chest and be like "... huh?". Then I'd just turn and walk away
Can anyone say "Passive aggressive"?:p

It also might be usefull if like someone is behind a car or long bunker or something and I can't get an angle on him I can play mortar fire and lob some in on him.

That'd be fun, not to mention funny to watch

It is really hard to short stroke an RT valve. I think that was one of the goals of the design.

That would be really funny though.
