...when you have not one...but TWO 3lb CO2 tanks that you want to run ALL DAY at a big scenario event and NOT have to stop for air...hrm...

Well, it starts with a pouch...but what pouch will hold 2 3lb CO2 tanks? I mean they are big (like an 88/3000) and there's two...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v388/druidsdecendant/Paintball/CO2%20Tanks/3lbCO2tanks.jpg

Well, I got me some of this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v388/druidsdecendant/Paintball/CO2%20Tanks/TheBeginning.jpg

Then turned it into this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v388/druidsdecendant/Paintball/CO2%20Tanks/Almostdone.jpg

So I could do this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v388/druidsdecendant/Paintball/CO2%20Tanks/Gettingthere1.jpg

Here's my idea -
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v388/druidsdecendant/Paintball/My%20mods%20and%20ideas/dualCO2tanksetup.jpg

So now I need 1" OD webbing so I can make MOLLE straps to make it fit my vest. If anyone has about 15' laying around, gimme a holler....

Whutchya think? :D

Sorry Druid... very nice work in deed. What marker are you feeding from those?

LOL....nope. This is going to be for large scale events - specifically for OK DDay but really for any other large event I use my A5 at....

Thanks. This was born out of necessity, rather than desire.

Yeah...I've never been to OK DDay and this will be my first year there. From what I've read around the Net, the field is as big as Skirmish (approx 700 acres) and I'd REALLY rather not have to run back for air...lol.

The other option I'm looking at right now is that my daughter has an invite to use a DT on a tank but I don't know (as of yet) if I have to provide the airsource. If I do, she'll use these because I have a 3rd 3-pounder (not pictured), a 114/45 and an 88/45 I can use for myself if needed.

The numbers on the tanks are:
DOT-3AL 2015 * APO196508
(A NUMBER 2 INSIDE A ZERO)
CLIFFDIV 12 (LETTER L INSIDE A C)
08 TC-3AL M139

...but I'll go one step further...the phone number for the guy selling them is: His name is Henry, and he can be reached at (210) 599-2800 he will know what you're talking about when you tell him 2.5lb co2 with paintball valves. His shop is in Texas but to anyone here, living in Texas, he's not set up for sales tax for your State. You will have to work that out with him...

These 2 tanks cost me $140 total, shipped to PA. That's the best I can do for you....now gitterdun!!

Also...added an MS Paint pic to the first post to show how it will be rigged....

Back in the day, guys would use dual CO2 tanks with a "teeter" valve between them. You would draw form one tank until it chilled enough to drop pressure. The teeter would flip and you would draw from the higher pressure (warm) tank. I think that would help your efficiency/consistancy if you can find one.

I don't remember the teeter valve....that's 'new' to me...

We used to use the 2" x 23" aluminum tanks with a Thermo Valve...and that valve was horribly huge and ugly....lol.

Anyway I spoke with AirGuy over on the DDay forum (until this year of 09), he was the air supplier for the OK game. According to him, I should have no problems running this in cascade as I have pictured because it should draw equally off the 2 tanks.

that's pretty awesome.

first thing i thought was teeter valve, but you guys beat me to it :) are you planning on running this over your shoulder to the gun? or to the side, or below?

Thanks...the tanks will be on my back, between my shoulder blades. The lines will go down the back and connect to my remote that goes under my armpit like it already does when I run a single tank horizontally.

The teeter valve is also called a "shuttle valve". I can't see the advantage from a thermal standpoint. It would let you pull a bottle off the rig for refill. You may want a refill port/check valve on there.

So...~7 pounds of CO2 rig + how much paint? I've only considered DDay, but I thought they keep some air and paint in remote locations.

they do keep remote locations. most deadzones have air and paint. unless ur slinging a case or more per outing i really don't see the need for that setup unless, ur weilding a DT or more.

Thanks for that ^^. I don't think I'll need this valve for what I intend to use the tanks for.

The whole premise for this set up is two-fold...

1. An almost never ending CO2 supply for me for the big game on Saturday (given my anticipation of personal paint use);
2. My 12yr old daughter has the opportunity to be a DT gunner on a tank and we may need to supply the air source [the tank's being built as we speak]. If that's the case, she can lay this down on the floor of the tank and just hook it up to the asa.

Yep ~7lbs of CO2 for about 2 cases of paint just for me to shoot alone...lol.

See, I already have a 3-pounder and filled with approx 30/35oz got me a case and a quarter on a decent temperature day. Dick's Sporting Goods' scale only went to 25oz and he guessed at how much over 25 he went.

If one takes the "CO2 shot graphs" at their word, a 20oz tank should yield approx 1200 shots from my A5...give or take.

3 lbs equates to about 48oz of CO2 each...so using that math, I should get approx 3000 shots per full fill...give or take a few hundred shots.

I plan on using at LEAST two cases of paint myself, that's 4k shots. If I carry both filled, I should be able to shoot 3 full cases before refill is necessary.

I'm already set up to carry a full case of paint (and have done so at all big games) and plan on doing that at DDay but right now there is a "changing of the air guard" at DDay and the new supplier is still "feeling out" what they need for the game (as far as air and CO2 logistics goes). The last guy (AirGuy) only supplied air at certain locations/dead boxes but paint is supposed to be available at more locations than air is. I'm counting on that and plan on taking one case in-field and getting another at the dead box (closest with paint).

Or...if my daughter needs these for her DT...she can get at least 3 full cases before needing a refill. Plus for her, I have the third 3-pounder and other smaller (20oz) tanks but she has a tank to ride in....she can store it there and not have to lug it around like I have to....lmao.

Yeah...this is going to be a game of a lifetime for both of us and I want to make SURE that I have maximized our resources for a seamless game play.

I want to see that too. I'm thinking you will look like a blob of pods and tanks on top of a pair of kilted legs, with an A-5 sticking out. :D

Just plumbed the tanks.
One Tippmnn 98C asa with a 90* fitting and hose. That hose goes into one port of a generic asa that has a fitting port on each side.

Into the other port went my stock A5 90* fitting, it's mated hose and ASA adapter. This is a neat set up because Timppmann makes the fitting, hose and asa (ASA tombstone fitting) a unified set of parts. The 90* female side is not 1/8" NPT threaded but the male side is. That means this fitting is only useul if used in conjunction with the Tippmann s/s line. Waste not, want not...lol.

The Tippmann Tombstone ASA adapter then will screw into the UFA on my remote line, which in turn goes into the marker.

The braided S/S line that goes to the ASA aapter makes it that it should take more abuse than any other type of line. It will go under my arm (or over my shoulder) and give me plenty of maneuvering room to shoot.
