My gun, back in the day...ish..

Two years ago is not that back in the day... But in relation to my life and paintball career, it was back in the day.

I was digging through my old photobucket album which i haven't really opened in about two years or so, and found a few pictures of mags i used to shoot. Most of you haven't seen them, and my first was kinda odd...

Started with a reverse rt valve z-grip, added the endo drop, warp and the 88/30 tank. This weighed around 8 pounds. That's an oreck vacuum.

Of course, it evolved.

...eventually it had an x-valve on there, too. During the evolution of this gun there were many classics and other rt's, but this had always been my pride and joy :). I still have the z-grip today, however the other parts and pieces are long gone. I really wish i hadn't have sold them.

Because i need to explain myself further, the point of this thread is to show off the original gun i showed, and have something else to occupy my time. :D

Can u guys explain to me why a tank is better at that angle? Other than liking the look of it? Other than that nice guns.

Gets it out of the way of where your wrist goes when you hold onto a Z-Grip.

looks crazy, too. it was a little difficult to set up, but once it's running it works awesomely.

I always thaught that is what an offset cradle is for. Ive got a heck of a drop forward on mine. But id go nuts if I couldnt use it for a stock to steady my gun. I shake to bad to aim at all without it.

It's a very smooth feeling when you grab the Z. It places the mag higher and closer, since it results in the tank sitting on your shoulder rather than pressed against it. Because of that, instead of putting your arm forward and putting your hand at what could be considered an awkward angle, it's more like you're raising your hand slightly, and happen to find the Z frame on the way just begging to be held. :D
I also have to say that I have a preference for having my guns up close, which is how it ends up with the cradle. with my 6" barrel, it barely goes past my elbow in terms of length. Very compact.

I'll post some pics to show you exactly what I mean. As awkward as it might seem, it's really comfy.

I have one of Lukes offset rail, since without some drop or angled rail, there's a lot of pressure on your wrist since the tank reg sits where your hand wants to be. When I get bored, I'll probably switch to it again, but I love the way my Mag is set up. What I'm working on now is lowering the height, since the hopper now rises higher than me. This would be where the warp comes in. :)
I'll have to shoot right handed only again, but that's how I played with the offset, so I'm not worried.

Thanks for the thaught out explanation. Kinda makes me want to test a set up like that out now. The new pic is deff what im used to.
