I shot out my foamie, how should I replace it? I have some replacement tips, but what sort of adhesive should I use?

I dont use them, but if you want yours to stay for a little while you must clean the bolt super clean. use alcohol. Then superglue the new one in place. make sure to not let glue run down the tube inside the bolt.

damn foamies. Mine always shoot off. I've tried super glue and it only held for a few shots.

I've heard gorilla glue works well. I bought some recently but haven't had a chance to try it.

Its rubberized glue, it will take the shock of the bolt cycling, its not brittle like superglue.

I use Duro Gel Super Glue. Lasts a long time. As others have said make sure bolt tip is throughly clean from oil and previous adhesives. Dry firing is the hardest on foamie adhesive.

Don't really need the foamies, mine flew out when i was shooting a string at the target range and i just decided to forget it since the air literally ripped it off and it would just happen again.

Foamies are hit or miss. You have to really clean the bolt well to get them to stick. Always uses either a rubber glue (like Behemoth linked to) or a gel super glue.

Some people never replace them when they blow off. Needing them depends on where you live. Here in the NE the weather can be damp and cold this time of the year and I prefer to use them in those conditions.

I found it to be non-essential, and I think a lot of maggers have found the same as well.

Here's how I took care of the foamie problem. I call it a "Hardie" :)

I guess it depends on the body (aftermarket or otherwise) that you have but
I've had issues with double feeding without the foamie.
I just used super glue and it holds fine.
The key is you have to clean the bolt off extremely well before applying the foamie.

You know, I just replaced my first foamie after like 10 years of playing with Automags, so that was the first time I had seen the bolt tip and noticed the hole in there... and I was going to suggest something like what you did...

Except in the form of a press-fitted silicone plug.

I suspect the main problem here is most people who have problems with these foamies flying off do not understand what "clean" means.

I don't want my bolt tip flying out, so I machined that tip, threaded it and then drilled the hole in the bolt to the correct size and tapped it. Then loctited the tip in and all is well.

I think foamies come off more often when people dry fire their Mags a lot. No back pressure so the foamie is more likely to rip off...

I never ran foamies in my mags, even back in the day. So all I can contribute is:
