So I recently picked up an SP micro rail link here (http://www.actionvillage.com/031-112-0007) It is the style that has grub screws that push the rail apart to engage bottom line but they bottom out before engaging the ASA at all (hybrid push style). Any one have any advice other than keep cranking till your hands bleed?

Many rails work this way. Don't crank it 'till your hands bleed; that'll stress it too much. Most tanks aren't heavy enough to pull the ASA off the rail if it's well tightened. Twisting 'til your knuckles turn white will just mar up the aluminum (it's SP, regardless of opinions it's just plain true that they use cheaper materials).

If it won't spread far enough then it won't spread far enough, simple as that.

Ditch it for a better rail, or just go direct mount ASA...

Measure both pieces and compare them if you can. You should figure out which part is off spec before you beat up the rail. You can't assume that the rail will stay in one piece if you crank on it a lot, so you may end up replacing one or the other. You don't want to buy another rail and find out the ASA is too wide.
