My wife said I could get a Helmet cam for fathers day...

Any suggestions on a good cam. Preferably one with its own storage so I don't have to buy a camcorder too...

Or cheap camcorders that work well with a helmet cam.

Low cost too. I'm not made of cash :tard:

What do you want to do with the video once you have recorded it?

Just low quality youtube? Or is this something you want to watch on a real t.v?

From what i've seen any helmet cam under $100 that has built in recording will be good for youtube type applications.

Over that price they seem to get better. If it were me I would get this one. http://www.goprocamera.com/

I took it in another direction. I went with a security cam and ran a cable to a handheld video camera. Over all this route gets more expensive. But if you already had a video camera then you would just need a security/spy cam. There are some pretty good security cams out there for under $100. The security cam I have is not the greatest.

Here's a pic of my setup and the resulting video from it.

Very nice I like how the cam is in the mask to protect it and then your hopper don't get in the way like Mike from TechPB. But some times the cam was looking down and you couldn't see. This could be fixed I'm sure. If that was Low Quality that will work fine.

Thanks for the post Ill look into it.

Any other Ideas?

Ok WOW, Go Pro Cam's are just amazing for the price. I think we have a winner unless someone can top that.

Yeah the first footage it was pefect. Then the camera got bumped and was looking down the rest of the day. But a 30 second video wouldn't have been as fun

Next time I use it I will secure the camera better so there is no movement. It will be version 2.1.

I'd say the spycam I was using was maybe $40-50. So on the lower end of the quality spectrum.

Yeah. It seems the way to go if you are wanting an all in one. I'd get the handle bar mounts and put it on my barrel :shooting:

I have used the ATC-2k on the barrel of my gun a few times. Sound is not that great though. It's the same cam Greg Hastings uses for his gun cam footage. It can be mounted on a facemask. Got mine on Amazon with a 2G card for about $100.00.

That one is nice because it can take HD.

VHoldR's first cam had some issues. It had good vid quality, but the mic sucked and the battery would sometimes rattle out of position and cut the video in mid film.

With the Countour they fixed the battery, upped the mic, and upped the video.
Right now it is the best self-contained cam you can get, and being $275 it is well above many similarly priced systems, but a bit more expensive than simpler helmet cams.

For cheap and good, I'd go with the GoPro...
