I was at a decent size senerio game today and was having a blast. There was a bunch of speedball teams playing at the event as well. In one of the last games, my team had to guard the biggest fort at the field. We were holding well. I was on the ground level inside the fort and I felt a hit on my back. First thing I did was call a ref over to check for any breaks, I was clean. 2 kids were in the front left corner upper level tower and they both were hit. When they came down, I crawled up and took their position. I layed low for about 2 minutes, not even giving any signs that I was up there. The other team started building up at the front enterance to the fort and they got a few of our guys guarding that door. I pop my eyes and warped emag above the tower wall to see 4 guys on the other team just standing in the open unloading inside the fort's enterance... they don't see me... in about a second and a half I had four more kills under my belt. They all walk away with their hands up. I pop up again and one more of the other team is running up the ramp to the right side of the fort about 20 feet away from me. I put 2 shoots into his tan colored shirt and see them break and pop back down. When I look up for a third time, the first thing I seen is his barrel pointed in my direction and 2 shots hit my goggles. I was pissed.. and put 3 more into him. I started to walk from the fort and look over.. This kid is screaming his lungs out at me "You F'n lit me up.. F-you! What the F' is your problem?" I was pissed in the first place from him cheating but I was just going to walk off the field but when he started screaming and calling me out, that got the better of me. My pointer finger went in his face and said "you see those 5 hits on you.. yeah I lit you up.. next time call yourself out the first time your hit" My tone was abit louder than normal, but I wasn't on a screaming level like he was.. and he kept at it.. 2 refs were holding him back like he was going to do something physicial.. I just laughed and swatted my hand in the air at him and walked off the field. Back at the staging area all the guys were telling me that he is always a hot head and a cry baby when things aren't going his way. One of his team mates came over to our staging area and starting giving the "its just a game speech" and I had to comment back "Yes your right, and in every game there are RULES.. tell your buddy to start following them"

In my mind, cheating is stealing. Its stealing from you and everyone else that paid to play there. They are stealing the fun, the true outcome, and concept of the game every time they can't follow the rules. They ended up stopping that game after he went off like that.. Up to that point, it was one of the best shootouts I was EVER in, and now no one will know what the outcome of it would have been. No one likes dying, but thats part of the game.. Thats why they play more than one, so you got a chance to not die in the next one.

That being said, this kid was from one of the speedball teams playing today. I am not bashing anyone who plays speedball because I know its not everyone.. infact it is very few... But we all know that there are speedball players who live by the 1 for 1 idea that if he gets me, he is coming off with me and the others that aren't hit until the ref sayes he is. That might be accepted in the speedball community but this is WOODSBALL. If you can't honor one of the few rules that we have, you need to stay the HELL out of the woods!

Gog him next time. That is how you deal with cheaters. Speedball etiquette is to light em up if they don't go out after the first hit. He continued to play on so enough said. Not fair to you to be taken out of a game, because he cheated. Next time, get him in his back as well.

The worset is when you watch them wipe and then yell at you to "get out" from a bounce.

In my opinion he deserved it. He got hit twice and still took a shot at you. In my book that's a cheater and it serves him right that you returned fire. But calling it being lit up from merely 3 extra hits? What a crybaby. (and i don't even play speedball)

I it would have happened to me, i would have completely ignored his ramblings and would walk directly to a ref explaining the situation. I have no interest in dealing with people that have poor attitudes.

It happens, we all have our stories. I had a guy try to arrest me for bunkering him once.

It's not speedball, woodsball, or even paintball. It's Uncleball!

Wipers deserve to be gogged AND bonus balled. It's hard to wipe when you're covered in it, hehe.

funny thing is, the guy never even bothered to wipe.. I hit him twice and popped down. before I even popped back up, his gun was aimed right at my position waiting for me to pop back up..

that experience actually inspired me to want to be a ref someday... those cheaters and wipers are going to hate me.. My paint checks are going to be like police friskings lol

Lol, yup.

I have gotten to where, in a tourney, that if I am going to do a "walk" by (cause I don't run, lol) I try to shoot them in the side of the neck, or to their flank, or somewhere else that the first reaction would be to reach for that spot than to spin and shoot.

One of the guys at the local field shoots for groin. He says that if you run by someone and shoot them in the balls, the last thing they are thinking is to turn on you and shoot.

Michigan Monster Game this weekend, about 1/2 the people I shot didnt leave unless I gogged them or a ref was camping on them ready to pull people out.

I once showed up at an outlaw field with a towel. I was told that if I wore it I would be shot multiple times close range to "test" it. Declining I stopped with the towel. Originally when I began playing I tucked a section of a newspaper into my pants and that was way better than a towel.

But really: Cheaters are bad, mkay. Cheaters are worse in some forms of play than in others. If someone whipes when I'm playing pump I get really pissed as there is no way I am going to shoot twice with the PGP. When it's fast paced, fast shooting there is more paint shooting and less chance of just getting shot once. Not saying that cheating is okay but...IDK. It can be more annoying in some instances. Like one field I went to that was FPO with white paint and a local showed up with white pants and a white hoody. Now that's cheating(plus this place[orlando paintball] won't let refs on the field to check people). I shot him about 5 times and gogged him once and he whiped onto his sleeve and nobody could tell.

People who define the rules their own way are even worse though. If one team starts barrels on the tarp and the other starts barrels "facing" the tarp and then you start deviating more and more from the rules. I even had one "rule maker extraordinare" bangy-bangy(his words not mine) me at 5 feet as I had a shot a string at him and missed. Did his lack of shooting make up for the aim he didn't have to have. I don't know but I'll never play with him again.

what exactly IS a "bangy-bangy"???

i for one would love to have been in your position because i am very buddy-buddy with the refs at my field (most of em anyway) and the kid would have been pulled for the day for that behaivior (not just the cheating, but the over-the-top attitude and what you said was a hint at physical violence).

extra paint is part of the game, the kid needs to rethink what sport SHE plays and get over it. cheating sucks but you sometimes cant get through to people that have learned bad habbits from people they look up to (in this case probably some "AGG" baller)

I have had my share of cheating expiriences and usually they just end up with me shaking my head while I walk off the field. after the fact i will let a ref know to keep a keen eye on that particular player because they are "exhibiting suspicious playing behavior" :nono:

Welcome to woods-ball. I get shot at more, taking pictures at big events than I do playing.

I also see more trees getting shot than peeps!

well when speedballers shoot the buker rather than the opponent to "keep heads down"... except the bunker is a tree ;)

last weekend at a big game i was lit up more and over shot more then i have ever been.

literally, i was shot in an engagement, so i stuck my hand and gun up, and started walking off. only to be shot 3 or 4 times. then they stopped with me and some of his team yelling things like "im out" and "let him out!"

you would think it stopped there. not 3 seconds later i was hit 5-7 more times by another one, again everyone yelled that i was out.

you would have thought it stopped there, but then 5 or so seconds later someone else on the other team shot me 3 or 4 more times, and everyone again yelled to get him to stop.

i was shot more then 20 times total, walking a mere 10 feet, with my gun up in the air.

why?

idk.

people are freakin retarded. when there teammates next to them are yelling on multiple occasions that i am out, they continued to shoot me. woodsball is far worse then speedball in this regard IMO.

That really sucks. Unfortunalty you see alot of lame behaviour at biggames. People wiping, pretend they are walking off the field to suddenly pop up again after 5 minutes, not calling themselves out at all unless there's a ref nearby, not sticking to the rules that apply on that field, cranking their guns above the FPS limit, etc. It's sometimes very frustrating knowing that you are surrounded by idiots.... with paintballguns.

I used to chrono my RT in the standard manner, and would light up those who wiped. Inevitably, they would ***** at me in the staging area. I would always tell them that if they want to wipe a hit, they can try to wipe a welt. Next time call yourself out the first time.

The rampant cheating and crybaby attitude is what drove me away from the sport for the longest time.

At the big games I've been to , it's the same , I just try to remember , I'm there to have fun and put welts on other people , you get shot till ya call out . I've actually had a ref stand by me & watch this happen : I shot this fellow twice , he didn't call out & moved about 5 feet left I shot him 3 more times , he backed up about 5 feet , not giving any clue that he was hit , although his right side was covered , I LOOKED at the Ref & he shook his up & down , the next volly was about 50 balls as fast as i could shoot 'em , I don't know how many hit him , I could hear the ref laughin , you know the guy walked off gun up & never said a word

I've had something similar.. (But a hit is out on this biggame) I shoot a player out, seeing the ball break on him. What does he do? Instead of calling himself out he goes flat on the ground using the little underbrush that was there for cover and pretends he's not hit. Because i allready had seen alot of cheating going on that day it really got my goats off so i unload 2 pods on the guy, dunnow howmany were hits, but he didn't move at all. It took a ref walking towards him to call himself out.

I'm not particulary proud of that action, because it's basicly overshooting somebody. But cheaters just bring out the worst in me.

Mechanic79

I shoot until they call themselves out, it's the only way. People choose, should I call myself out after being hit once or multiple times. It's not overshooting it's helping them make a decision.
