So, my brother has to give a tribute speech in his speech class, and his next assignment is to give a tribute speech about some person. Well I had just finished a conversation with him about Tom Kaye, and since my brother loves paintball, he decided to give his speech on the most famous person he knew of in paintball (that deserved recognition) so he decided to go with Tom Kaye :p

Well, if you guys (or Tom himself  ) Could summarize all of the achievements that Tom has succeeded in during his career in the field of paintball, that would be awesome. This would be at least one more place he could cite for information regarding to Tom Kaye. I have already found Tom's homepage HERE (http://www.tomkaye.com/) so you don't have to just copy that link and paste it.

Thanks guys! I hope this becomes an interesting thread.

The way I found out about AGD was because a classmate of mine (that also liked paintball) wrote a paper about Tom Kaye and AGD. And I thought it was so cool that he actually was able to call the president of a company up on the phone and interview him. I've been an AGD fanatic ever since....

Edit* this was around 2000-2001

Yeah honestly TK is the biggest reason I love AGD so much- not just the quality and the history of the company and it's products, but Tom is one of the few businessmen you hear of that had ethics and legitimate goals in his business with paintball. I just have a lot of respect for him and I will continue to be an AGD fan because of it.

I guess what I am looking for is this:

He invented the open-bolt blow forward valve design
He introduced HPA into paintball
He made an instructional video supplied with each gun purchased as a supplement to the instruction manual

that sort of thing. Other comments are of course welcome, but this is the purpose of the thread :p

Who else patrols his own forums?

Don't ask us, ask the one and only!

Or better yet, just show a big-screen slide-show of the AGD virtual museum and narrate over it...

Or, no, 3d visual aids work better. Get a 6-pak...

Or wait, maybe, if you bring in an X-mag... no, it's a school. Hmm...

Get a spectroscope and show how... no.

Maybe, talk about extrasolar planets and how they... no, too boring-ish for normal classes.

Or maybe how hitchhiking and selling used cars can lead to business success and... no wait, that is too lofty... Uhh.

Tell you what, pay for AGD's plane ticket, get him a room at the local inn, and buy him dinner and just have him give an audio autobiography.

No, he's too busy solving mysteries...

I have an idea, do the report on someone less interesting!

Thanks alot Tom, I really appreciate it! I'm sure if anyone could, it would be you :D

Well, despite the lack of information provided by everyone else, my brother ended up giving his speech, and it was killer apparently. He started out by showing a picture of Tom on a power point slide and he asked a question like "What sort of man do you think this is?" He showed the picture of Tom (shown below) posing next too a microscope, and he continued by saying something like "well, given that he is next to a microscope, you may conclude that he is a scientist. Well, in reality, he is much more than that. He is indeed a scientist who works in the fields of Paleontology, Astronomy, [etc.]" and he showed other pictures of these examples as well, then he finally said "...and he also is in the paintball business!" And then he showed the picture of Tom geared up on D-day running with his dual side-arms. Everyone laughed, because my brother has given a speech related to paintball EVERY time he had to give a speech, and by this point everyone had thought that this was going to be my brother's first speech NOT related to paintball. After this, he continued his speech on what Tom has done for paintball, and why his is such an admirable character in this realm.

He ended up getting an A (24/25) on the speech, appparently he had some arbitrary mistake on his outline and that's why he had a 1 point deduction, but his delivery was excellent according to his instructor. I am proud of him- and he doesn't even own a mag!!
