Oh yeah, and BTW. on a serious note, i would like to thank those who post on my advice threads, esp Loguzzzzzz and smoothice who i talk to alot, thank you all for your advice and help. if it werent for you all here on AO, i wouldnt have my collection i have now.

Magitis is hard to cure if it can be cured at all. whats even harder to cure is an angry wife, we all have one those, maybe a pink mag will do it? :p

Yeah its only curable by finances or blunt force from a wife.

So until either of those are an issue... Whore away!!!!

There isn't a real cure by the way, 13 years of the sickness, and I'm not looking for a cure. It's like asking if you really want the H1N1 vaccine. I'll take my chances !!

There are definetely different stages of the disease though. Its actually more like an addiction.

First you have a taste = someone lets you borrow there e-karta. You go running around the field like a madman spraying paint.

Then you think. Hmm thats pretty good. I like that. Maybe I will upgrade my classic mag.

Next thing you do is start buying some small upgrades. Rt on/off. Double trigger frame. Make that trigger pull a little lighter.

It starts slow. A piece here and there. Next thing you know you have a fairly up'ed classic.

But now you have all these extra parts. First you think you can sell them.

So you sell a few pieces. That feels surprisingly good too. Well now you have some extra cash in your hand. Free money you think. Maybe its time to put some pneumatics in that double trigger frame you just got.

So now you start building a pneumag. But with the added fire power you realize maybe a barrel kit would be nice. You eye a cocker threaded barrel. Time to sell the classic body and get a ule.

So the cycle continues until you have a fully up'ed pneumag with all the bells and whistles.

But you still have the taste of that e-karta.

You do some quick math and realize maybe you can sell your pnuemag frame and buy some emag lowers for just a little bit more.

Once you find those now you need a new valve. May as well shed some weight and get an x valve.

Now you have over $700 into this mag. You have bought and sold a whole bunch of parts. Then a great deal comes up for a custom body. Sure you have to buy the whole mag. But you know you can sell the pieces you don't need.

Once you create your new master piece you realize you can build a second mag.
You convince yourself you should have a "loaner" for a friend.

Next thing you know you have a whole arsenal of markers. You think about all of them as members of the family. You are now a magaddict!

Then one day you make the horrible mistake of figuring out how much money you have invested into your collection. You hate yourself. You try to convince yourself to sell something. This will justify the other purchases. You have now hit rock bottom.

So you sell a few markers. Or maybe just a few pieces. But just as you think you are detoxing the addiction. A Xmag body comes up for sale. You already have lowers and a valve. All you need is the body to have an XMAG. You buy it without a second thought.

And the cycle continues.

+1 to Smoothice's explanation. I started with my 68AutoMag that I'd had since '96. Had a couple of upgrades, but for the most part it was stock. When I got back into paintball a couple of years ago I found AO to see if there was anything I could do to get my Mag up to snuff. Bad idea.

It started with an Intelliframe. "No big deal", I thought. I bought it from Cookies, and he asked me if I had a feedback thread so he could post. "Nah", I said, "this is really the only thing I'm going to buy, so feedback doesn't really matter."

A Level 10, pneumag kit, trade for an X-valve, Micro Body, ULE Body, Y-Frame, trade for another intelli, cheater, etc, etc, later, I've still got the disease. That doesn't even include the 5 Cockers and a Blazer I've also picked up along the way, or the Classic RT and another Classic Mag that I'm trading for this week.

If this is a sickness, I don't want to get better. :shooting:

I skipped ekarta and went right to xmag. Although you may have noticed my karta in motm. It may have 1 vote...

As the addiction goes I jumped on a deal a while back that hurt the paintball funds pretty bad. Hence my recent attempts to get rid of stuff. I've almost listed the karta few times. I'm still holding on to that dream though.

I think there was a thread not too long ago that was a poll about how many mags could you build from all your parts. Considering you can just swap valves and bodies around, the possibilities are pretty huge.

I think I just got this disease too, but it must be mutating. I bought and sold 4 or 5 classics at a profit over the past six months, to fund a pnuemag project, then am selling that to build an egomag project, and am not even done but planning on selling it for more mag parts to create a different style mag...oh, I got it bad. This whole explanation is just tooo spot on. It's kind of freaky it's like he's inside my head. Anyways I'm at the step above is there any hope of getting out now?!?!?!

And to make things worse (or better depends on how you look at it) the wife came out and played with us last weekend and now she wants her own setup. I'm already laying out the plans for her mag(and thinking about sneaking in some of my pneumag parts into her build).

Thats what I love about cockers and mags. You can mix and match parts. Use the same main components and be able to go from mechanical to electronic to pump. From basic to dead sexy all with one new piece at a time.

2 more Xmags
2 68 Automags
1 ULE Mag
1 Sydarm

LOL, A-Tach I just showed my 7 year old son your SFL/X collection. He asked me when I would have a collection like that,

He will have hereditary magitis, he gets his first mag for his birthday on the 25th of this month. A splash micromag with a Booya frame, and a t-stock. If I can I will try to get it on video and post it up, because he is going to flip out. He's a little paintball nut, and he loves the mags !!

Sounds like trouble for sure. He'll be using your credit cards in no time to snag that online deal.

Lol, There was no intermediate steps to my magitis. Started out with the longbow from spec ops. around september 07. I thought that was pretty awesome.

bought emag lowers a month later. a w/l body and rail from AGD, then an x-mag a couple months after that. my habit slowed a little over that winter (only bought another set of emag lowers). spring came back around bought a karta body and rail, z-grip, pneu-matics. one of my favorite guns ever.

couple months later I had another karta body and rail, airwalk v2 frame. and more pneumatics. turned that one into a sleeper (sold this one earlier this year).

somewhere in all that I acquired my ule bodied pump mag, a phantom, a DSG, and a punishers custom phantom I havent opened yet cause I havent been home too.

I have a good excuse to being able to afford mine.

I live at home dont pay rent and have a lucrative job as a heavy equipment mechanic. on the down side the down payment for my land/house is coming along a lot slower than i hoped for

I love them!!

I have all mine in them also.

They have different shapes as well. Some fit emags better. Others fit vert frames better. They even have ones that fits pumps pretty good.

Thanks to A-Tach-One and Loguzzzz for posting up recent photos! It's actually fun to watch them change. I didn't realize Loguzzzz was keeping so many of the mags he built, since he often has had one up for sale.

You guys should take annual (or monthly) pictures and stage them in a slide show, that would be interesting to watch the markers come and go.

At which point does Magitis leave you susceptible to Vikingitis? There have been some beautiful ones turning up in the BST's.

With my wife's mag functional not quite complete. And mine getting closer.

I'm now looking at this pile of spare parts wondering hmmmm what next. I think i need a loaner.
