just wondering if anybody has had this issue with a mini before. i am trying to fix a friend's mini and before i really start taking it apart if others have had this issue.

when you screw in the tank and start firing the gun will gas up (asa gauge reads 180) and when you fire the first shot the gauge drops and holds at 0psi and if you fire again air starts rushing out the bolt. if i fire again the bolt resets properly and holds at 180psi again. i tried turning up the pressure slightly because i recall the operating pressure is 200psi and it just starts leaking more and it will take more shots to get the bolt to reset. ideas?

When it blows air try turning the rear plug (velocity) all the way in, and see if the leak stops and you get pressure again. It could be an issue with the poppit.

Has this marker ever been taken apart, cleaned, and lubed?

Make sure it it lubed correctly (Dow 33) and it has a fresh, quality battery.

If that doesn't fix it check the poppet.

If the poppet does not have a spring on it, it is a version 1 poppet. Some guns with the version 1 poppet are susceptable to this.

The newest poppet is available for $13 and eliminates poppets that stick.

checked the battery, 8.83 volts so it's still good.
i pulled the bolt out and it's lightly lubed and clean. can't figure out how to get the poppet out and i haven't found steps yet, also don't want to risk breaking it by just trying.

solenoid is clicking when i pull the trigger (eyes off, or degassed and eyes on with something in the breach). it's only leaking after i press the trigger and it fires and sounds normal.

from looking at the thread at the nation it appears to be a newer model. (has the warning etchings, 300psi guage, 1 screw groove, the poppet seems to be the "version 3" as it's lipped. i assume it has a spring cause if i put an allen down the bolt guide and press lightly on it the poppet will reseal).

i'm clueless.

Pull the whole bolt assembly out - make sure the bolt slides pretty smoothly on the bolt guide, if its stiff, I would consider changing out the orings on the bolt guide. Also check to make sure the spring on the bolt "clicks" into place, its slight, but the spring is conical in shape, if you put the bigger end on, it will do all sorts or weird things. As far as the poppet - take the velocity screw all the way out and using an allen or piece of macro push through the front of the bolt guide and the poppet assembly shoud drop out the back. When lubing the poppet, be sure to NOT put lube on the face of it.

also take your grips off and when gassed up just put your finger on the bottom of the noid and see if it has an air leak ( dont fire when doing this, just check for an air leak from the noid )

i set the marker down for 2 months now and i decided to pick it back up. i think i know what's wrong but i just need to verify one thing: can somebody take a picture of the solenoid? i need to see the bottom of it.

thanks.

edit* it's the solenoid. the bottom cap isn't staying in. i randomly saw it right where a microswitch is on a regular marker. even with the gun degassed if i start firing the cap just pops out and sometimes the rod inside does too. any ideas? i've tried to put the cap in and then use a bit of pressure from pliers to get the casing to put more pressure on the cap but that doesn't work. just buy a new one?

Here is how I learned to properly service my solenoid. I hope it fixes your marker.

I once blew a noid in my mini. The bottom of my noid looked like melted plastic or glue. When it blew, it had a hole in it.

just the metal cap that does in the noid is lose. might try hot glue to hold it in as long as i don't cover the bleed port.

That noid is toast. You need a new one.
http://www.piranha-evil.com/Mini.htm Item #12, $45.00.

Too high of a pressure will blow the noid. They need to be below 200 psi.
My mini is in storage right now and I'm getting ready for work, but I will post a pic of a healthy solenoid tonight when I get off of work.
