First of all, I'm new to the boards and I hope to be a long term member given the following events. Let me know what you guys think.

So heres my story…..I started playing paintball in the mid to late 90s. Mags and Cockers were still king and I seem to remember paintball being far more expensive to play then than it was now (or maybe my perception of the value of money has changed). My cousin and I even started a short lived team that played a couple of tourneys. I managed to get my hands on an older powerfeed automag and my cousin played with a nice little minimag. The team was short-lived as we were only a three man team and couldn’t adjust well to the small fields and the higher rate of fire that is common in the smaller speedball fields. Eventually we went back to our bread and butter which was woodsball and scenario games. This was just about the time when the first electropneumatics, like the shocker and angel, and HPA/nitrogen system were becoming available. The newest electro guns and rt mags were still cost prohibitive though so all we could do was sit by and watch the occasional player come through our local field with a $3000 marker setup and blast through 1000 rounds a game. The more common they became, the less fun paintball seemed to be since the game was starting to become more about how much paint one could put downfield than about team strategy. We eventually fell out of the game around 97-98 and went our separate ways.

I told you that story to tell you this one…This thanksgiving, I was over at my aunt and uncles house for dinner as we do every year, and my cousin and his new wife managed to make the trip from upstate New York to make it a party. After dinner, he and I started talking about the great times we had playing paintball. I inquired what had happened to his Minimag. Apparently he had tossed it in his closet after we stopped playing and it had been for the most part sitting there unused ever since. I told him that recently I had started to look into the sport again and see what had been happening in our old world of paintball. So I asked him what had happed to his old mag so we went upstairs and started digging through his closet. We finally found it and I was astonished at how good a condition it was in. He then proceeded to GIVE me every piece of equipment we found. Below is a list of everything that I walked away with. I’ll be posting pics of the gun on here when I can take some good ones.

• Minimag with polished body (hopper right PF)
• 14” PMI Perfect Ceramic Barrel
• ANS phase II expansion chamber w/ bottomline setup
• VL 2000 hopper
• coiled remote line
• 20 oz. C02 tank
• PMI gas through stock (broken unfortunately)
• JT Spectra Flex mask
• Smart Parts Renegade jersey, pants, and bandanna (tiger stripe)
• Smart Parts Renegade half pack with two 140 rnd pods

I have been looking up upgrades for it and unfortunately other than parts direct from AGD, I can’t seem to find a whole lot for it these days. My first mods will probably be the ULE body so I can start using cocker barrels, an HPA system, and Intelliframe. Any other suggestions would be most helpful.

Welcome back! I left my Mag sitting in my garage for 6 years only to take it out two years ago and played with it like I had just put it away the week before. Just go to the buy/sell/trade threads here on AO, there are tons of parts for sale that you will be able to upgrade your gun with, and pretty much everyone you deal with here will treat you right, unlike some other paintball forums that have a bunch of little kids running around them not knowing how to treat others. I warn you though, you may soon find out that it's very easy to rack up a pretty good bill here. ;) Look through some of the official automag pictures in the Paintball talk forum here to see what some people have done and get some good ideas. Have fun, there's still a lot to be had from the great AGD.

I also whipped my mag out of the basement after 4 years and it shot like the day I left it down there.

Welcome back, seems to be a bug lately.. a lot of people getting back into the sport!

Welcome back. That said be warned: magitis is very contagious I got into mags originally to save money but still have a high performance marker. One year later today and I'm over $1000 into my mag and have 2 other project mags I'm building for my brother and a friend.

my mag sat 9 years in a duffle bag in a storage unit that wasn't climate controlled. Pulled it out about a month ago, couple of drops of oil, and presto played with it 3 times since then and it really needed no work. not saying i didn't buy parts for it and such but it worked as is after 9 years.

Just look around here a bit. There are still plenty of aftermarket parts being made. From the AirWalk to the StormWalk, the Emancipator to the new Micromag. There is still lots avaliable and more coming.

Great find.

Whatever you do KEEP that hopper. Those old Viewloader shells are VERY good. They do not break like the newer ones do.

And that body and valve. The polish looks amazing on the minimag body. And the air valve with the left side air adapter is definitely uncommon.

I see no reason to upgrade except to switch from CO2 to HPA.

Old school tiger-stripe ftw!!!

I may be mistaken, but that barrel looks like an old J&J hardchrome. If so, you are not going to find a better shooting barrel anywhere...

I've got a brass J&J on my Vm-68 and it's a amazing. The hardchrome barrels supposedly had an even lower drag-coefficient than brass, and better durability.
