for a minimag body, is there any other way to change a normal Grey body to black? ive looked at phosphate coating or parkerizing, but don't know how well those will hold up. thank you in advance.

Parkerizing is not a option for a stainless steel body. Stainless will not parkerize it only works on carbon steels.

Parkerizing solutions can be either zinc or manganese. The zinc usually produces a light to medium grey and the mangansese usually is dark grey to black. Either one will only react to carbon steels not stainless. There are tricks to make it darker or give it the green patina like alot of WWII firearms have. It also makes a great base if your going do some kind of coating like Duracoat, Gunkote and powder coating.

black ones are a PTFE coating on top of a stainless body, the gray ones are just stainless bodies with a bead blasted finish. Are you dead set against a dust black powdercoat finish or something?
