My M1 Carbine Automag

Here's the final version of my M1 Carbine Automag. I plan on bringing this to Oklahoma D-Day.

Specs:
Classic Valve with RT on/off
Level 10 Bolt
AM/MM Rail
ULE Body
Lapco 14" Bigshot (.690)
Automag Double Trigger

The body is spray painted with Krylon flat black. But I plan on duracoating it in the near future.

Dis-assembly is straight forward. I simply remove the barrel band and the whole "receiver group" lifts out of the stock.

I've tried to keep as many real parts as possible:
Surplus M1 Carbine wood stock from ebay
Wood handguard from ebay
M1 Carbine Trigger Guard (real steel from Fulton Armory)
20 Round Magazine (from cheaperthandirt.com)
Recoil plate (this holds the trigger guard onto the stock)

It took a bit of dremel work to fabricate the mounting parts for the trigger guard. It's not the prettiest, but it works well, once I got everthing lined up.

I really wanted to use the M1 Carbine trigger (so I could use the safety), but there just wasn't enough play to rock the sear. If anyone has ideas on how to utilize the safety, please let me know.

I haven't used it in a game yet, but it works well in the back yard. It feels very compact and solid for a rifle.

I thought the trigger would feel kind of squishy. But with the spring attached, it's not too bad. I won't say it's crisp. There is a little side to side play. But the trigger guard keeps everything in line.
