The four most important people that I thought cared about me don't. You see I'm mentally ill and have been diagnosed with PTSD, Major Depression, and Personality Disorder :( Those four people work where I get services  They want some sort of outdoor activity in my treatment plan so I chose Paintball :headbang: I don't have a car but did find someone at PB-N that's willing to take e paintballin with them at the Plex in Laotto :) I however don't know this guy too well and don't trust him :wow: So I asked these four people that work at where I get services if I could have their personal cell#s just in case this guy leaves me at the Plex. Well they won't  But I'm going to find someone I can trust  I've canceled all appointments with my therapist and I'm quiting all groups. I'll still go to see the Quack to get meds until I get Section-8 ;)

Dude...Just tell him your crazy and you'll stab him in the face if he leave you ;)

How far is the place from your house. You don't live with anyone? Parents? Anything?

About 10 miles. No, I don't have anyone here. If I'm not successful in finding someone I can trust in case things go bad I'll be moving to Orlando, FL when my lease is up. And no I'm not threatening anyone :nono:

Can't really blame them for not wanting to give out personal contact information to patients/clients. Opens the door for a lot of things. You'll find that in a lot of professional environments, methinks.

I thought about that too. When the gas prices got so high the taxi service in my area closed their doors :(

I thought I'd weigh in on this as I work in a neurobehavioral rehab center- I deal with a wide range of residents with such issues as: Huntington's Disease, PTSD, Bi-Polar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Schizophrenia, TBI's Galore, Depression, etc.

I've worked in this environment for 3 years now and have created deep geniune relationships with many of my residents, many of which have brought me to the brink of tears when they have passed away. I would however, NEVER give any one of them my private cell phone number- I don't care what the problem or excuse. It's not to a lack of caring, I can assure you, it's bad form, it breaks a boundary that as a healthcare professional should not cross. I've seen several cases of residents who've managed private phone numbers (Resident's with borderline personality disorder seem to be good at getting #'s) only to find those numbers abused later for trivial things or for harrassing 3am phone calls with frequency. Do not take their unwillingness to provide you with a number as an offence, I assure you they still care just as much as they did before they asked, and more than you at the moment are giving them credit.

I know you have the best of intentions, but there are other options. Bus's and cab's are great options, and though most do not think of it the Police Department may help you out as well (don't call 911, call the busniess line and explain the situation, they may be able to set something up).

There's no taxi service in or around Auburn anymore. They closed their doors when gas prices jumped a few years back. I tried looking for taxis in Laotto but there's none.

Just because you think everyone is out to get you, doesn't mean they are.

Keeping in mind that you told us that you have mental disorders, you are just overthinking the whole thing. Dude that you met is another baller considerate enough to have offered you, some web dude, a ride out to the field. To me that says that he is nice, and possibly looking for a new paintballing friend. How about in return, you offer him a little bit of trust, relax, and just have a good time. It is most likely that everything is going to be fine.

I'm just covering all bases ;) I doubt that he'll strand me but I want a plan in case he does :)

Finding people to paintball with is one of the intended uses of these and other forums. I agree with what punkncat said if this person who doesn't know you at all is willing to offer you a ride to the field they most likely have good intentions.

So long as you don't go into the situation with a negative outlook all will be well.

Just my 2 cents

Might I suggest an outdoor activity that doesn't depend on getting a ride anywhere? Biking, jogging or hiking- name a few. Also, those options don't involve shooting people. Good luck.

I can jog alittle but can't run for crap due to a knee injury I suffered. As for bike riding, it doesn't keep me entertained very well. Besides what's wrong with shooting paintballs at people in a safe enviroment  Plus I already bought the gear and I plan on making good use out of it ;)

Wait, you're quitting therapy because the people who work at your therapy facility won't give you their personal cellphone numbers to call in case a person you met happens to leave you stranded at a paintball field?

I'm no mental health expert, but this drama seems to defeat the purpose of the outdoor actilivy for therapy.

WillBrayJr
01-07-2010, 05:25 PM
I don't know if I'm quiting therapy until I meet with my case facilitator. What I DO KNOW is I'm not going back to the same therapist. I ALSO KNOW that when Section-8 opens up I'm leaving the NEC. Furthermore if I'm unable to create some type of life here in Auburn, IN I'm packing up and moving to Orlando, FL where I will have a support system.

How about been honest and up front with the guy giving you a ride to paintball. ask him if he would like to meet for coffee near you so that way you giys can get to know each other. You can tell him about your state, therapy, and if by chance either of you don't get a good feeling then just walk away no hurt feelings. But I would agree with most here if he is offering a ride and is a fellow paintball player he is just. Looking to help out another paintbller. Bring someone else into the game. After all the. More the merrier and. Also finding someone else to be friends with that enjoys his sport.

Also see if he belongs to a forum like AO and check out his feed back. That should tell you lots about him.
