View Full Version : It would have been cheaper to just keep the mag in the first place

I remember a time when I wanted into paintball. If you wanted to be serious you bought a mag or an autococker. I spent over $400 buying a used classic mag (that would be a single trigger, IIRC it was powerfeed) off e-bay and thought I got a heck of a deal. I then proceeded to purchase the related accessories.

I moved on in the sport, through E-mags and to Shockers when they were it to have (recall the jaw dropping Shocker SFT in 03?). I quit the game, came back various times, and found myself over the last two years thrilled with pump play. So I was burned out, thats all there is to it. Pump gave me a chance to play, and I enjoyed it.

I decided I wanted to play scenario games.... and having sold off all the above needed something.

Through MCB and here I am coming together with a vertical feed (the stainless vertical feed body) E-mag valved level ten Mag.

I hate you all....

Just had to share....

Now, as you change your style, you just buy other mag parts. Then, after a while you find you have enough parts to make another mag, which is really convenient because as you change your style, you just buy other mag parts... :)

That's why I told my wife the Mag is the last thing I sell of all my stuff if we ever have money problems.

I would probably keep my phantom last...but the mag would be second to last to go.

QFT!!!

I just finished my 3rd Mag. WTF is wrong with me? I keep thinking oh yeah, a warped ULE that will come in handy if I ever get a warp. Damn that BST forum, someone has a good deal and I just can't pass it up.

It's come to a point where my wife doesn't check the computer for porno, no she's checking the computer for what mag purchases I've been looking at. I need help anyone know a good rehab clinic to get this under control?

;)

I'm sort of in the same boat - Sold all my mag stuff and have been shooting an Invert for the better part of 3 years now ( Thanks Lohman )

Rna into some issues playingin sub freezing temps a few weeks ago and thought - ya know my mag never had that problem - and with free air everywher enow, the efficiency isnt really an issue anymore..

So Im sitting here on a fancy rare rail with a little chilli pepper engraved into it, a brand new twist lock Armson barrel, couple of o-rings and springs.... and wondering how much a vert stainless body, intelliframe, Retro/Emag valve, and lvl 10 would really cost to throw together....

And I keep coming up with... more than a new Invert Mini :)

Vertical steel body with barrel $125 (not thrilled with the barrel, looking for another) This started because I found the body, I had not realized there had been a black vertical steel body.

Emag valve with level 10 $100

Intelliframe $70

I found a NIB Empire B from a couple years ago in my pile of stuff, and an air tank still in hydro. Enough mag parts to likely get it together once the above are here.

Not that I did the same thing.... you are right about more than a mini, but I will probably end up buying another mini too, I think I have had like 6 if them that I have sold :)

Been seeing Inverts used and working for $180.00 and have passed on a few borken ones for under $150.00 knowing they probably just needed the reg rebuilt and o-rings and a new poppet installed.

Trying to hit up a local shop here that was bought out - the old owner did a lot of mag work back in the day, so I imagine the pile of older mag parts they found during inventory is phenominal, and has absolutley no resale ability in their shop. If they let me go through the old stuff, I'll let you know if I find anything you might be able to use - Or optimally, I am going to see if they will give me a percentage if I can sell the parts online for them.

There's nothing much more enjoyable than finding a box of old 'mag stuff and accessories in a paintball store, stuff that's been sitting in a box under a work bench or in a filing cabinet, going through it all and remembering all the cool (although questionably useful) accessories for the old 'mags.

Ha! I've been going through the same thing.

Currently I own an Emag (off getting fixed somewhere, on its way to Tunaman) a MacDev Drone, and I just picked up an Autococker Trilogy Select Fire for $108 because hey, if someone wants to borrow a gun I'm going to have a hard time loaning out a $700+ Emag or a $500+ MacDev gun so why not a pretty darn fast and accurate $100ish Autococker?

That was last week. Today I found myself browsing ebay on my damn cell phone and next thing I know I bought a freakin' classic mag, powerfeed left, bike grip, drop, lvl 10, etc for $100 because hey, what if I run out of batteries for my other 3 markers?

We'll see how long I go before I order more parts for it. (I already have a spare ULT so why not pick up an X-valve?!)

The only mag item I have left is a Hurricane Labs classic valve back, and I might still have a cut down composite frame. As much as I love mags, I have no intention of ever buying one again. I am actually going through a much similar situation, in that I am thinking long and hard about the end of my gaming as well.

I have played for something like 12 years now, and have had a tremendous time, met lots of really cool people, and some of which are much like family to me now. I still enjoy playing at times, and am (at least for now) holding on to a minimum of equipment. I work for a paintball field and for a league in a behind the scenes capacity.....it doesn't make me any money, but it keeps me involved in the sport that I have loved for so long. I think, perhaps, that my doing it as "work" may have been at least a part in my lessened enjoyment in being so immersed in it as a recreational activity.

Sorry to hijack, hope the new Emag works out for you.

Lohman I think I have an Emag with your name on it. I was thinking about milling it at work but all it needs is a battery. I even have the 68/3k flatline and warp... lmk

Apparently this can get out of hand quickly. I now have enough parts in the mail to build 3-4 mags of various designs... Thats not counting what is already downstairs in my basement, thats what I have ordered from various people since I started this thread.

Rick's place?

Let me know how that goes. I'm always looking (usually through Rick's bins) for mag crap.

Yea - used to be Rick's place. Chris and Rob United own it all now. Cleaned it up a bit, seems to be run better and a good group of guys up there for the most part.

Not having any luck with a response from him though, he said they found PILES of mag parts and brand new in box guns when they cleaned out the store room and took inventory.
