Been looking for a Titanium barrel barrel back for my UL barrel for night games. (if you dont know what it does you gotta try it!) used to have one on my old twistlock mag and loved it. The cheapest I can find a used Dye TI back is about $100. So my question, does anyone know if you can mill/extrude/etc titanium down to the specs of a freak insert?? i know Titanium isnt really rare, but its expensive because of the time it takes to work it, just wondering if this is do-able...

Do able and cost effective are two totally different things. Should be do able but I can't see it being cheap for a one off.

Does brass build up static like the Ti barrels? Does it have the same effect?

Temo: hopefully lots of people will be interested if someone can make them! :)

Get a hold of TyMcneer on MCB or BEO. He is making brass ones now. He could give you more info about the possibility of Ti ones also.

I second ty. I have some of his brass ones, and they were done great.

here is a size that he could probably make. If you get one done pm me I might get one as well. It is always neat to shoot sparks.

Here is what I found out... Not looking too good..

From TyMcneer:
It is doable, but the cost would be terrible.

I have worked with titanium in the past and it is difficult to deal with and hard on machinery.

I would estimate a Freak compatible titanium insert to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 each. That price is too far out of line to be reasonable. Unfortunately, anything less would not make it possible to cover the bills incurred while doing the research and development to finalize the process.
