If you are an APG magazine subscriber then check out Pg. 24 of the new May 2010 edition. Theres a nice looking Xmag there! One little problem though, the editor decided to call it an Invert Mini... now I have both an xmag and a mini, and they Barely look anything alike to me. Guess the editor is a "new guy"

I want to see a pic or scan or something. It will be funnier with visuals.

I noticed that right off as well. You never see an X-mag in a magazine......It was nice for a change.
The "new guy" was Marc Gottfried IIRC. He ain't no new guy.
Just a little error.

Just bought the magazine tonight. It looks like a SFL Emag, not an X-Mag. In fact, it looks just like this one:
Correia3's Gloss Red (http://sflemag.com/images/stories/glossred/IMG_2529.jpg)

It looked like a sfl to me too, but with the Emag valve. Sexy sexy....

SFLs are xmags.

an SFL E-mag is just that, an E-mag that has been "SFL" milled by shocktech. Yes they had Aces, but they were wire loom aces.

Xmags, short for Xtreme Emag, as in "Xtreme CnC" Emag, which denotes the classic CNC machining on the body that we all know and love on the common xmag.

So they really arent the same.

I always equated Xmags as having removable breech's and eyes. Never been lucky enough to see a SFL but they always looked like they met this criteria and I just threw em in the x-mag category.

It is the same as an xmag, the difference between an xmag and an emag is the body and rail being one piece and a removeable breech. That being such, i have seen SFL mags many a time lumped into the xmag category as a result, even on the official xmag owner page or whatever they had a while back. An SFL mag is much different than just different miling on an emag, it's more different milling on an xmag.

SFL's are Xmags with different milling. No comparison to regular Emags.

I'll argue based on the belief that SFL mags had an Emag valve, while the X-mags had the newer aluminum X-Valves. If that's wrong, I'm sorry.

As for the Photo it is a SFL mag with the Highrise Centerfeed, Datapimp drop, AO Barrel Condom and possibly something else AO related that I can't think of right now. I want to know why the AO member in the picture hasn't spoken up to say, "HEY!! That's me."

Told ya :p Haha. I honestly didn't expect Tom to come in here and resolve this whole thing though, but i did start to wonder which came first, the SFL or the egg, er xmag

And temo, it could no longer belong to a member of the AO family, the person may have just left that stuff on.

A man of Tom's status does not have to 'suit up' himself. He simply would send some hired goons. :ninja:

What I'm wondering is why neither of these two related threads have pics of the Mag in question
I know scanners are a bit retro but c'mon.. I don't feel like searching for an issue of APG ;)

what keeps the breach in place on an x-mag, especially when a hopper is on the gun? It looks like it can just come out at will

Actually, won't Tom just have to come in here and say "get'em!!"? I'm sure that 90% of AO would jump at that point. :ninja: :argh: :shooting:

But the concept of tom shaving his beard to have only a stache to "take care of business" is so much funnier haha. Plus tom was never one to hire others to do his important bidding, he is a man who got things done; he would go himself because he had to, he'd do it to make a point. ;)

It's the barrel that holds the breach in place. In the front of the breach there is an oring (sometimes) and you screw your barrel all the way it and it holds the breach in. :shooting:

I often reread an old edition from 2001. It is nearly 3 times as thick as the newer editions and actually has interesting articles. I don't know why I keep buying them.

I still disagree, even with Tom.

EMags were produced in 2000, SFL EMags are circa 2001 and the X-Mags were produced in 2002.

That timeline would make it more accurate to say that X-Mags are actually SFL Mags.

On another note, here (http://www.zakvetter.com/pages/paintballs/marker_gallery/sfl_e-mags/smilestyler_sfl.html) are better pictures of smilestyler's SFL E-Mag.

Given the history listed there, the photo in APG was taken in late 2003 or early 2004. The Mini was still a gleam in Simon's eye at that point.

I read that in the middle of a crowded borders, everyone was dead quiet when I just yelled "WHAT?!" then my friend asked what was up, I showed him and he responded with an even louder "WHAT?!?"
