A friend gave me this since he is moving - just curious - guessing Level 5, but this is even before my time with mags which is saying a lot.

Is the powertube threaded onto the valve body?

I haven't seen a level 5 in several years. They are rare.

Neh no threads the Powertube is held in by the steel coil ring up by the back of the valve in the picture.

Wow...You've got an old school valve. Ck out Toms vids, he's using the same one.

The PT is held in with a snap ring.

sounds to me like you have something pre-level5. Good friend to have.

Anyone have an idea if it's worth anything? I'll probably switch out the orings and get it firing and put it up in the BST section shortly.

I was disappointed to take apart the powertube and no little magic elves fell out or anyhting :)

Not sure exactly what you have, but 99% sure there is no such thing as 'pre level 5' and based on your serial number, it wouldn't qualify as a level 5 either. Possibly level 6.

not sure about the lvl but that looks like a good valve for a pumpmag

From the bowels of AO History...

Might help to determine it's identification.

Appears I may have an amalgum of several levels here - I dont have claipers to measure most parts :(

Appears level 5 was the first released to the public, and I know this isnt a lvl 7... so I would venture t o guess this is a AGD level 5 valve with some upgrades on it to keep it working

I believe the first lvl 6 guns shared the same valve as the lvl 5 guns. The difference between lvl 5 and lvl 6 was the barrel/body design changed. Don't hold be to that since I have not seen a lvl 5 gun in several years and I don't remember all the differences.

I would have said it was a level 5 but the high serial number indicates that it is probably a level 6. I know there was a conversion program to upgrade all the level 6 guns to level 7s, in the very early nineties, to get rid of the problem of powertubes being a problem (I suspect due to moving around or due to oring leaks).

Did AGD ever make a tapered face reg pin?
