View Full Version : Yard sign

From a guy in Florida :

My neighbor is a "lefty" of sorts (Obama bumper stickers, gung-ho
Socialized medicine, "guns should be banned", etc.). So this past spring
I put this sign up in my yard after one of his anti-gun rants at a neighborhood
party.

The sign wasn't up more than an hour before he called the police and wanted them to make me
Take down the sign. Fortunately, the officer politely informed him that it was not their job to take
Such action without a court order and that he had to file a complaint "downtown" first, which would
Be reviewed by the city attorney to see if it violated any city, county, or state ordinances, which
If there was a violation a court order would be sent to the offending party (me) to "remove the
Sign in seven days."

After several weeks he was informed that the sign was legal (by a quarter of an inch) and there
Was nothing the city could do, which obviously made him madder.

I tried to smooth things over by inviting him to go shooting with me and my friends at the hunt club but
That seemed to make him even more angry.
I am at a loss how to reconcile our long relationship (notice I did not say friendship), any suggestions
Would be welcome.

There should be more signs up... :D Would help people realize that maybe, just maybe it will make a difference... of course it could increase the crime rate in that area... but well... that's the way the cookie crumbles!

Insert generic copypasta email that will be making the rounds. Also, double-plus good points for the "well-regulated militia" and "tree of liberty" folks.

Also, since I have shooped a few whoops in my time; I declare said image to be manipulated through some sort of image process and editing software.

The pixels really give it away.

Yes I do pass on things that are sent to me!!!! ESPECIALLY if I find them humorous and funny!! And if I think others would find humor in them!!!!

Oh and just so you know...I probably would've posted sooner in this particular category if I knew how much fun it would be!!!

Don't most forums discourage posting chain mail?

It's inevitable. Generally speaking, it is not done with bad intent either - I don't think Tracy_ptp is trolling.

Along with capitalization and grammar, it's one of those things you have to get used to online.

Are you concerned with it because of what it is or its one of those bothersome "realities" in your great "reality based governing" theories? REALITY is that we, as individuals, taken as a whole, are entirely too dependent on the government, that can be said for both sides of the aisle at this time. All

For instance, I am amazed at how many people who are part of peaceful religions are ok with it if someone else uses violence to help them. They can avoid the negative karma of doing it themselves but are ok with (and in a way expect) others to do it for them. Violence is wrong, unless of course someone else uses it too protect me?

I don't see how you can reach that conclusion. It is quite OBVIOUSLY intended to troll.

Remember, in DRGs "reality based" system anything that points out the flaws in his "reality based governing" (IE the government cannot protect you as an individual) is against the rules of the debate, or trolling, or something else. It can never be a legitimate point because only one side understands reality and its the one he is on. Isn't it obvious?
