ShoeBox Compressor Important Information, 30 Day Money back YES---
Warrantee NO

This is an important explanation of the warrantee situation on the
compressor. As may of you know from the past, I fixed Automags for
free for many many years after they were sold. In order to give you
the least expensive price on this compressor, I can not give this
type of warrantee again.

As an example, if the compressor was priced the same way I priced
the Automag (based on a multiple of the actual parts cost), it would
be 1,200 dollars. You made it very clear to me on the forms that if
it was priced at 500 dollars or more, you were not interested. So I did
my job and brought it in under 400 dollars and still reduced the
fill times by 5x from the original estimates.

The other problem with a compressor vs a marker is the amount of run
time. You can't possibly shoot a marker 24/7 but some of you will
turn on this compressor and let it run non-stop until it breaks.
Many of you will try to over pressure the system to shorten your run
times and there is no way I can control that. The sharp guys will
fiddle with the gearing to tune it to the max and in the process
melt something down. I can't be responsible for these things.

Again in order to keep the price down, I will not have a phone line
for tech support. I will be answering tech questions on the new
compressor forum here. I am also working on getting Tuna and others
to do tech support. I am using the Autococker model in this case.
Budd didn't do much tech support but the dealers loved him because
everyone came in to the shops for support. As you see with the hose,
there will be lots of ups and extras that you can get for the
ShoeBox from your dealer.

I don't want anyone to feel like they got ripped off from owning one
of my products, so I will offer a 30 day MONEY BACK NO QUESTIONS
ASKED policy. You have to pay for the return shipping. I will refund
the original price of the compressor (but not the original shipping
to you). If you buy it from a dealer, you have to get your money
back from the dealer and then I will refund the dealer directly. If
you didn't give me the money originally, don't expect me to fix a
problem you have with a dealer.

If you get one of these units, plug it in, and a part breaks in half
due to a manufacturing defect, I will repair or replace the unit at
our discretion. If you give me grief, I reserve the right to give
you your money back.

So that is the bad news, but here is the good stuff. Most of the
small parts even up to and including the pistons, can be purchased
reasonably online at McMaster Carr. This includes the chains,
sprockets, bushings, bearings, pressure fittings, pressure tube,
axles, clips, bolts and some of the orings. You can literally
rebuild every wear part in the unit from McMaster. I will also have
an online store with replacement parts soon.

How long will it last? Thats a question many of you are asking right
now. In fact we just don't know. I have tried to kill the prototype.
Beemer is trying to kill a production model right now. We hooked one
up at 650 rpm (the stock speed is 200) and it jumped across the
floor....for 15 minutes...(Beemer hid in the other room)...it
finally stopped pumping a few minutes later (but didn't stop jumping
around) so we shut it off. The excessive heat had melted the
delrin backcheck but NOT the high temp oring (got to love viton). We
have never worn out an oring or piston or cylinder in all the weeks
of testing. The only thing that stops it pumping is high heat from
compression melting something because you over reved it or a flake
of crap getting wedged in the backcheck valve.

So if you have actually read to the end of this long winded
diatribe, you are one of the guys I want to sell the first batch
too. This is actually the official order list. To be officially on
the list you need to reply in this thread with something like "The
money back thing is ok with me!!" AND YOUR ZIP CODE. When we get
units ready to ship, we will pm you with a shipping cost and a total
price. You will need to paypal the money into our account and it
will be on its way. Remember, you need to post that you read and
understand the limited warrantee and your zip code.

Thanks everyone! Looking forward to a successful roll out.

Tom, that seems to be a fair warranty agreement to me.

Now, the only question I have is regarding the replacement parts. You said most of them can be found at McMaster. Will you print a parts list with part numbers and send it along with the ShoeBox? This way we could keep it running forever, right?

Also, you've mentioned on another thread that the "ideal" ShoeBox would have some different parts like brass pistons, for example. Are these parts also available at McMaster?

Thanks,

Mendel.

TK EDIT: Yes I will provide part # for McMaster. They will be available on the website coming soon. I will fill you in on the various options as they come along. One in the works is a whisper quiet option.

I live in Tucson, AZ. Today it was 108 degrees and it's still very early into the summer heat.

How do the ShoeBox's perform under high temperature environments? It get so very hot and dry here that plastics will melt if left in the sun for sometimes under an hour. I'm seriously interested in a ShoeBox, however the heat issues concern me. Should I have concerns about such a dusty/dry climate?

Thanks for any further information available.

I'm not signing up for the initial run. I don't think I can abuse this enough in the near future to be able to give any feedback. Also wrong pressure for me.

Is there a hopeful date to when the 3000psi version will be made available for sale? I need a 'start it and forget it' solution to fill scuba tanks. I don't feel comfortable with putting a regulator on the output.

I have read warranty, I agree. Zip code 53223 ( my shop)

My only issue is PayPal. I do not have an account with them, and do not wish to create one.Alternative payment method?

Use will be to top off unit reservoirs when my scubas are low or in the case of my Walther just up to the sweet spot after primary filling from tank.
My best to your endeavors, Thanks.

Sorry, Paypal is the only method of payment we can accept at the moment. We expect that to change in the very near future, perhaps with the second production run, but we don't have an exact date yet. We do want to accommodate everyone, so please bear with us.

I just wanted to top of tank from 2500 to 4500. I was paying $4.50 for 3000 psi tanks and
$9.00 for 4500 psi tanks. Input pressure was sat at 90 to 100 psi. It took 30 minutes to go from 2500 to 3700. Once it hit 3700, it jumped up real fast to 4300!!! It shut off st about
4380 and 4430, i rounded up to 4500. Close enough for me

Hello Tom,

I just learned of the ShoeBox and would love to get my hands on one.

I have read that you are done with the first production run, but may have some left over from non payers, etc.

I have read the warranty agreement and have no problem with the 30 day money back deal

I have the cash in hand to purchase and would jump at the chance to own one of these as I am going to be moving away from an HPA source later this year. It will literally take me 4 hours to get HPA after I move.

Anyways, I am in NC zip 27606 (for the next month or two at least)

Let me know if any are available.

Tom, I would like to change from 3000 to 4500 psi model. With the output pressure switching idea covered elsewhere on the forum allowing 3000 to 4500 range), seems like the best way to ensure the unit purchased is the most usable (and marketable to others, if necessary).

Zip 94941.

Understand and agree with warranty and related terms and conditions.

I have read the \"30 day money back - no warranty\" statement and it\'s fine with me.... I want a 4500 psi compressor.... My Postal code is V0X 1G0 in BC Canada.... I would appreciate a quote including postage to the address below.... UPS and FedEx charge about $50 brokerage fees on top of duty and taxes so I really want it shipped by USPS....

Could you please assist me in registering at the forum.... or at least get me on the list for a 4500 psi compressor?....

Thanks....

Tom,

As i understand the second run will start shipping in a few weeks or so, I am hopefully high enough on the list to get one.

With that in mind I was wondering if there was a budget compressor you recommended over others....

I currently own a craftsman 1 hp 3 gal. 2.4 scfm @ 90 psi
its not the greatest compressor but its served its purpose up to now not sure how well its going to work with the shoebox though....

Let me know what you or anyone else thinks

Thanks

Tom

No problem, keep all of us posted.

On a personal note I will be out of the country from mid December to mid January (perhaps longer I am still working the details out) and my ability to get to email and the forum will be greatly limited so if shipment is delayed further I wanted you to be aware of my circumstances.

I only mention it because if you should try to contact me and I am slow in my response this is most likely the reason. I dont want to lose my place in line and let me assure you, I STILL WANT IT!!!

Let me know if we should make arrangements prior to my leaving.
