I have a J&J ceramic barrel I want to clean up and its had paint in it for years.

Its all over the inside, I'm trying to rinse it out with really hot water, a tooth brush and a squeegee but its not all coming out.

Is there any chemicals I can use to help remove the Old sticky paint and not damage the barrel?

Best way to do it is isopropyl alcohol and boiling water. Start by putting it in a cookie tray deep enough to fit the whole barrel in it and submerging it in the alcohol and leave it overnight. Then you put the barrel in a different tray with boiling water and let it soak till the water is no longer too hot to put your finger in. Repeat this a couple times to loosen up the paint, then run a push through barrel cleaner through it. If you repeat these steps a few times it will take it out and return the mirror finish inside. Best part is the alcohol is only a couple bucks at a grocery store. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the ideas.

I boiled half the barrel at a time and seem to have done the trick! gonna try shooting through it tomorrow.

In the future, try simple greed. No matter what material, it tends to clean perfectly.

I agree, simple greed is awesome. Truth be told, it's a vice of mine. ;)

Simple Green of course was what I meant, but then again gun-whoring without using the markers... That's simple greed. I'm guilty :p
