Love to shoot. been to the range 4 times this week!
Just like paintball there are leagues to shoot!

Check out USPSA.ORG

They are pretty much the biggest thing going on.
Right now I'm just about to break into being a B class shooter!

I do a lot of the multigun (3-gun) competitions. Most of the events for the next 4 or 5 months are sold out, but it would be great to see some AO folks out there shooting!

I shoot the 3-gun nation series. http://www.3gunnation.com/ Next one is in August! Can't wait!!! Leaving the AR in the case and shooting my NM M1A in the Heavy Iron Division!

When did you get the Aimpoint?

It was a primary arms clone. I got it, and decided to let it go in favor of something different.

I'm also changing around my MOE HG's and light mount for a deal i got on a rail :)

well... that 60rd thing is just for making our cali friends jealous. I wouldn't let that anywhere near my rifle if anything more than my score depended on it. I have plenty of 30rd mags for that.

Go sit at a bench and pop targets at 300 yds with that bipod. That cast should work just right as a good elevation base. I was hitting a 12" diamond at 300 this past weekend with a friends 16" gun that was pretty much bone stock.

Simple solution. Move out of California, they make New jerseys gun laws look lenient.

Pistol, or SBR? It doesnt look like a stock on there, but its dim.

Shortest barrel i'd want would be 10.5 or 11 - Under that, supressor mfg's wont warranty.

MoeMag

I like my long barrel. SBR=waste of rifle ammo IMHO. Go pistol caliber if your gonna do that.

remember... 100ft/sec less for every inch of barrel.

One man's waste is another man's fun.

LOL! Fair enough.
not gonna lie, yeah it would be fun. I bet it puts down an impressive muzzle flash

My biggest deal is that for most competitions my rifle/ammo combo has to produce a minimum "powerfactor" a value calculated from the bullets mass and velocity in grains and ft/sec. that way it puts everyone on a level playing field as far as felt recoil and ammunition effectiveness on long range steel targets, and to keep folks from loading really light loads for up close to reduce muzzle rise on rapid fire close targets. Most 16" AR's have a hard time making the minimum.

To be honest I always thought AR pistols were dumb. Then I got in on a deal for AR receivers. I didn't need a 4th AR but I couldn't pass up the deal. I had it transfered as just a receiver just in case I wanted to do a pistol. When I went to the Knob Creek Machine Gun shoot in April I couldn't pass up the show special for a kit. I didn't know what it would be like to shoot since I never shot one. It was way more controlable and accurate than I expectd. Everybody who sees it wants to try it. My buddy in the pic shooting it now wants one.

I plan on building one, because in Ohio, its Illegal to transport (in a vehicle) loaded magazines.

UNLESS you have a CCW, then loaded pistol mags are okay. - This also allows you to transport a loaded pistol.

An AR pistol, and a few loaded pmags would be nice to throw in the trunk :ninja:

Not exactly correct. The rifle I posted is CA legal. Its identical to the ones in any other state with the exception of the 'bullet button', which makes it a 'fixed magazine'.

This is my favorite rifle, my M21. Recently I won a 300yd battle rifle shoot with it and I'm waiting for the results of a match I just shot. My top score was 99-3x out of a 100 possible shooting the SR-1 reduced target, offhand, with surp ammo at 100yds. The X ring is about an inch for those that don't know. As pictured it has it's scope mount on, but being unemployed put the brakes on getting the US Optics scope. The rifle is pretty awesome. I choose all the parts and had my gunsmith build it. Total cost is near 4k so far. Adding the scope adds 3k to it. Pricey bugger, but worth every penny.

My Colt 6920: Magpul; CTR, AFG, MIAD. The rail system is KAC RAS and of coarse the Aimpiont is the M4. Rock creek SOPMOD bipod on it as pictured. I like the Colt, but 30cal is where it is at, sorry. Everyone has to have one though and this one is mine.

oh ya, i love the M-14, but same thing.. too expensive.. plus im gettin my dads pre-ban from 82' in a few years..You can step into a SAi M1a std used for a grand. The arguement they are too expensive doesn't hold water. Now if your looking for all out rifle, expect to pay, but same thing with an AR.

I bought my AR when Obama took office. I paid $400 too much for the rifle. But as pictured right there
http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/4538/picture054el.jpg
I have over $2500. That right there will get you a NM with plenty of ammo to make you happy for awhile.

The big difference is about anyone worth a darn can assemble an AR saving themselves money. With a M14 most can't. That adds into the cost. Your an armoror though. You probably have access to all that you need to build one. Something to consider.

Long time no see. Hope you and the familiy are doing well. I still live in the same dump if your ever home. Shoot me a PM if you are interested in getting your butt handed to you on the range.

No dice, unless you wanna spend 1800 for a noveske build

You cant just go to a store and buy a lower? Can you have one transferred in on an FFL?

If you have access to a mill, look into 80% lowers. They are rough forgings/castings which require the end user to do a little machine work.

The plus side, is that they aren't technically firearms which need to be registered. 80%'s dont have serial numbers, and if you do your homework, you will find out what is required to create a serial number, or realize that you dont actually have to register it when its been made for your own use.

yeah, the BCG on my Del-ton catastrophically failed on a daily basis, if I shot it or not, because it was not HP MP tested.
