I'm interested in hearing what bore mag users are using these days.

If you could only have 1 barrel bore to choose, what would be the best choice?

.682 has been working great on my local FPO field.

Find yourself a Kaner barrel kit, All you'll ever need.

Its gonna depend on location a lot. I have found that here in the Northwest the .689 or 691 works best because of the air here, especially on brittle paint.

It seems rare I see .689 paint anymore, here in the southwest desert.

Thanks for the Kaner recomendation, but going to anodize my project, so that rules it out.

Well next best thing is find a big bore barrel that looks nice with your setup and have it drilled to accept inserts.

I only bring three bore sizes with me at the field now because paint has gotten smaller.

.680 brass from tymcneer
.682 stainless freak
.684 stainless freak

Most of the assorted Draxxus I get here in the midwest is in the .684 to .686 range. I fear the day that I gets much smaller because my scepter kit will be worthless to me.

The other day I was shooting Draxxus Midnight with a .689, and it shot great.

.682 Kaner. It's about right considering how small paint has been getting. I used my .689 Planet Eclipse barrel a few weeks ago, and it didn't shoot nearly as well, due to being hugely overbored - otherwise it's a very nice barrel. But no paint is that big anymore. (at least I can't find any.)

I might try my .684 back on my Mag though, just because the .682 is always on my Cocker...when paint gets really small I use my .679 Freak on the Cockers.

I've been thinking about boring out the Eclipse barrel to accept Freak inserts...anybody know the procedure? My dad has a nice mill that could do it...what kind of tool would I need for it?

My Scepter has a .680 insert, so I hope that will be small enough for awhile.

Detailed instructions might be helpful, since I have access to a lathe. I'm planning on using brass inserts, but don't want to buy more than I need due to their cost.

Marbs, V1, Bronze, Triumph, White box... I have not seen anything bigger than .682 this season. Most were either .679 or .677.

That said, I am extremely happy that I bought a TechT iFit kit.

I am really liking those Lurker Eigenbarrel .679 barrels. I got one for my pump, and am using it on my mag too.

Gotta post a correction... The other day it was 104* here, 90%+ relative humidity according to the handheld hygrometer. I was shooting Marbalizer (test) through a .695; anything smaller was causing strange spin and resulted in barrel breaks. The paint didn't look misshapen but it did seem a lot less consistently sized than usual (I picked a few from different bags and parts of each bag and the digital calipers don't lie).

Apparently, recently I've been using .695

Didn't think New England ever seen 104', but 90% humitity sounds awful at any temp.

Didn't think New England ever seen 104', but 90% humitity sounds awful at any temp.

The news reports from Logan Airport said "a nearly record breaking 100*" but my thermometer, the one at the bank in town, and the one at Hanscom Air Base said 104*. One of the HVAC techs at work said he'd clocked 106* at one point of the day.

The humidity was terrible; I almost didn't believe it when my HZ unit said 91%... I figured the heat was getting to it or something. Later that night on the news they were talking about a 96* dew point, so I figured their measurements were just as shady as they were with the temps, and my unit was right. Some kid at a restaurant down the street from my business almost died...

Near exclusive .682 out of my freak kit. I use it so often I've thought about just getting a straight CF .682 and selling my kit all together.

I shoot a 0.693" insert in my equation barrel on my mags and a 0.696" empire on my angel. They work great on all paint. Always err on the size of large.

This obviously won't work with an Autococker, and goes against all test results here.

Overboring is a bit of a problem for cockers. For the same reason, it is also a problem for most pumps (AGD pumpmags being the exception here). Because the insertion of the ball into the chamber of a pump is human controlled, a perfectly matched barrel is preferred as long as the balls are consistenly sized. This allows the use of the largest possible barrel id without allowing any rollout.

The video does go against the early testing done by AGD desing, but AGD testing is based on guns with a high bolt impact. Newer style guns, especially ones that use lower pressures to control the bolt dwell that affect velocity, will be more greatly affected by variances in the paint. In this case, overboring takes care of the problem and creates a more consistent marker. The more fragile tournament grade paint also exaggerates this problem.
