Had fun machining it, didnt realize i had turned my minimag into a classic by cutting the muzzle break off.

Hopin to do some more mag work, and maybe a pump one?

Welcome over here on AO, Ryan!

Don't forget that there is a Dealer Forum here so you can offer your services here as well.

Guys, don't give him too hard a time about the minimag

600 in upgrades? Yeah that's rich.

What I'm seeing:

A sanded down stock minimag barrel.

A 50 dollar two-piece with what looks like a smart parts splash front.

A 30 dollar T-stock.

A 15 dollar sharkgill sight rail.

20 bucks worth of fittings, stainless hose and QDs.

Maybe a 60 dollar trigger frame with the trigger guard hacked off and a 10 dollar double trigger added.

Less than 200 dollars total in upgrades, and that's what HE paid for it brand new. I hope you didn't pay more than 250 for the whole set.

It looks real nice now that you've given it a rehab job. I would suggest maybe polishing up the body. All it takes is sandpaper and patience. Start with about a 400 grit paper and work up gradually to 1200 grit. Then take some metal polish to shine it up, and maybe buff it with a dremel.

Don't put any spray sealer on it though, unless you mask off the area that contacts the rail. It can throw off the tolerances and cause problems.

The old owner prolly paid someone at a machine shop to pump all the holes in it instead of finding someone who could do it for free/nominal fee

Welcome Super Stacy,

(Sorry couldnt resist... )

What you did so far looks good. If you start tinkering with mags you will see there are alot of different ways to go with these great guns. Keep up the good work...

Yeah, I'm guessing it used to be a crown-point barrel and he lopped that part off.

The drill marks in the side of the rail are super classy. I'm SURE that was worth 400 bucks at the machine shop ;)

this mag looks sick now. good job. I disagree about polishing it up, I say leave it the way it is. too many people are polishing their mags and it's not cool anymore. (I've seen one recently that actually impressed me, the one with the picture taken in the grass, y'all know which one...) your mag looks awesome already.

Ryan-

Don't forget the pic thread here. The MCB pic thread is just a subset of this one, relatively. Some of the picture servers or accounts have faded off the earlier posts, but there is still a bunch.

How did you come up with the Stiffi with the twistlock?
Did you actually cut the tip off a Stiffi barrel????

Oh, and I am not going to metion what you did to the minimag body.....you did know you can find P/F bodies for around $20, right?

mad skills on the ministiffi (or 'Da Asian' as the guys at the field call it)

its a twist lock to AC barrel adapter, the stiffi was broken, sawed it clean (ya one of the few haggard pieces of gear i have)

Don't let them make you feel too bad about. Minimag bodies are not especially rare. They do sell pretty well used, though, so you could easily have traded it for a standard powerfeed body + dollars. No big whoop.

If there were really a massive undersupply of minimag bodies, a third party seller or AGD themselves would produce some.

I'm not sure why they've never gone and made an aluminum version, though. I'm sure they would sell considering how much people like that body style.

yup

i didnt powdercoat the top of the rail, the inside of the body, or in the trigger hinge pin hole

it shoots nice, there was some minor overspray(barrel end of body), and 2 little spots where its thin (on feedneck)

where was i supposed to watch out for tolerances?

Ya if you are careful you can powdercote a mag. I have a storm trooper pnu mag that was powder coated by, I think mag79. It shoots great but it is a wall hanger.
