Just another crazy, er. . . awesome idea I had, where I really need some resources to make it happen, but I figured I would throw it out there, since I'll probably never get to it.

I figure, get 8ea standard automags, no grip frames, and mount them on a 6" diameter pipe. Make some sear extenders, and put a motor aligned in the center of the pipe with an arm coming off of it with a wheel on the end, so that as the motor turns the arm, the wheels rolls across each of the sear extenders, shooting that Mag.

Have a variable speed motor for control over the BPS. Even if the motor only goes around 2 revolutions per second, that still 16 balls per sec.

Edit: another idea that came to me was to increase the number of arms/wheels that are on the motor. Go to two arms and double the firing rate, go to four arms and quadruple it.

Not exactly sure about the loading yet, maybe a couple of warp feeds with some Y's in the feed tubes so the tubes can split off and lead to each feedneck. Feedrate of whatever is feeding it wouldn't need to be too high since each mag is only shooting once per motor revolution.

Just thought I would throw this out there.

i would love to see this made!!!

This would not really be a true gatling gun, since the barrels are not rotating, either way it would be super cool to see one working.

You could feed it by taking all the warp feed hoses to the back and making the Y connections there you could probably use 2 loaders to feed 4 guns each in an alternating fashion like this:
Hopper 1 feeds mags 1,3,5,7
Hopper 2 feeds mags 2,4,6,8

how would you keep the warp hose from getting twisted up while the mags spin? or you have the warps spin with the mags, but that just seem like a lot of weight on the motor spinning everything at once.

My thought would be, put another cylinder on the out side of the 8 mags, at one point have a warp feed tube feed into the inner cylinder putting a ball into the breech, as it rotates it seals and keeps the ball in until it fires then rotates around and loads another round...

Air supply is another issues...

Edit: wait the mags aren't spinning the motor on the inside is, Nvm

qloaders would fix the problem then you could spin the barrels and get a true gatling

OR Longbow set-ups...

OR Longbow set-ups...

Longbows wouldnt have enough capacity to be practical as a gatling gun.
Q loaders would be ok if used as one per gun, then 800 paintballs would at least last more than a couple of seconds.

Also since the barrels are not rotating the Q-pods could be placed at the rear for easier reloading while continuing to fire with the remaining guns. This could very well become a great turret mounted gun.

That would be one EXPENSIVE gun to make.

The next step, obviously is making it so that you can stick your forearm down the center of the pipe and make the sear-activation system use a different method. Then you can be all GIJoe Accelerator Suit like, with your 10mm caseless Gatling gun:

I don't see why your idea wouldn't work. It could be done with out a MASSIVE cost if you use classic valves (yes still expensive closer to doable) Q loaders and you spin the drum. Then all you need is a wedge in side the drum to actuate the sears, since you have a feed system that doesn't care about gravity. With 8 valves you could have the potential look at around 48 bps 360 rpm a speed easily obtained with the electric motor out of a drier. All that and you don't out shoot the valves . Might out shoot a single tank air system but but at 6bps each valve they will be fine

EDIT: Besides if the barrels don't spin and there is no chance of losing a finger while operating it what fun is it?

-Stationary mag
-Rotating twist lock barrels
...balls get fed into the barrel at some point as they are rotated
...ball is already in place when the barrel reaches the mag. Bolt extends into the barrel when its fired.

Have fun :D

I had plans once....
Stationary barrels make for easy loading.

man that movie was awful...

if you inverted all the bodies so that the feednecks were pointed inward you could connect them with a simple 8-way manifold fed by a single line. Perhaps use the Qloader-Pod-Loader as a back pack and feed from there.

Naturally now this interferes with the motor but I don't see any real need for the motor. The barrels aren't spinning so the effect is lost anyways. With the sears now pointing outward just use solendoids to fire them and wire them into an etrigger. The motor would require a substantial battery anyway (= heavy) and efireing each barrel would be lighter and probably easier to make. Perhaps not cheaper though...
