View Full Version : A Hyperframe Mag unlike anything you've seen before
Those who know me know I'm a tinkerer and love to customize my markers (MOTM June 2009). I owe this to my childhood friend and fellow paintball buddy, who's even more of a customizing freak than me.
He recently bought a Hyperframe from Smoothice. The thing didn't have a safety so my buddy made one. Anodizing was pretty scratched up, so he stripped it. He didn't like the size of the trigger guard, so he changed it too. Grips were not to esthetically pleasing, so he made some out of wood. The battery applied too much pressure on the board and it would turn itself off when the grip pannels were put on too tight. So he decided to relocate the battery in the frontgrip, Emag style, and add a 9.6v rechargeable battery pack. The ASA and rail have been soldered and sanded to that they flow seamlessly with the grip's lines.
I must specify that all of this has been meade with hand tools. No mill, just regular hand tools, files and lots of patience. The marker is still a huge work in progress, but here are the before and after pics.

I really like this. I am considering a mill sillsim build and this makes me want to do it even more.
Keep us updated :shooting:

Looks great! Will a custom trigger be made also?
Yup, a custom trigger is already made, but as you can see from the pictures, the frame is currently empty while work is being done on it.

Duuuuude...
Me likey!! Any idea what kind of barrel you'll end up using? What about anno theme? That wood looks great as is... so I'm hopin for something that'll really gel with it. Part of me thinks that clear will give a stainless/walnut kind of look that you see in alot of carbine rifles (such as my Ruger 10/22). Or if you stain the wood and go darker that'd be hot too. Black wouldn't be bad either... call it faux blued lol.
Great build you've got going

So no anodizing possible?

Wow. Your title was quite the understatement. Lovely work.
So no anodizing possible?
Yes, anodizing is in the plans. The faux Emag foregrip is made of the same aluminium as the Hyperframe and ASA, so anodizing will yield the same color all around.
I am not a fan of wood grips, but dude - that thing is NIIICE!!! Good job!! :headbang:

don't think you'll run into problems @ the solder joints?
We'll see how it goes. The marker has been sent to get anodized today.

looks like the lever of a roller switch.
looks like the lever of a roller switch.
Bingo! It gives the trigger a nice snappy return. Easily walkable to 12-14 bps.

is there a Hyperframe inside that Intelliframe !?!?

Nope, the Intelli and foregrip have been removed. Only the body, valve and rail remain.

Beautiful.
Hey, for grins, would you be willing to toss your tac 1 body on it and take some pictures?
Yeah, that would be fun to try. But since I've shortened my tac body to minimag length, the rail would stick out. It would look better with an uncut tac-one body IMO.
