I don't really care about barrel kits
I don't really care about underboring, it's never worked very well for me

I am hunting for a matte black barrel, 8" unported, preferably no more than 10/12" long at the most, one piece would be nice, .689 or so would work fine for me

I'm using a J&J edge kit right now and it's OK but I'm really looking for a nice one piece to complete my marker

Been contemplating the Lapco Bigshot but not sure. Any other input? Al the 'dust black' barrels I see are mostly satin, almost gloss, I need something much more matte. It's gotta shoot straight obviously but I'm mostly concerned with aesthetics at this point.

I didn't see 9" as an available option for J&J one-piece; looks like 12" is as short as they go?

I've been really satisfied with Furious Barrels.

I have a Lapco (several) they are awesome for a general use barrel, i.e. 689. Although i am not sure if they are available in dust black.

i was really impressed with the Hammerhead barrel I picked up at my shop. Its like, 8" max, uses the fin backs. I'm not much for rifled barrels, i don't care about what they say...but daaaaamn, when I was plinking, it was ball on ball. I found a guy with a used bunch of backs, got the smallest he had (.686) and I've been happy every time I've used it.

I don't think I'd describe it as satin, it was definitely a matte finish on it. really doesn't match my mag at all, but one day i might get it re annoed.

In my experience, get a J&J, a DYE ultralite or a Freak.

The Hammerhead barrels look neat, do you know which one specifically you used?

bottom of the page. Thats mine, and I do really enjoy it. I just wish it was gloss black. If I could afford to feed my mag more, it makes a great compact unit with the Warp and a 45/45. Looks like this on my mag.

Hey:

I have to agree with Rudz on this one, although I don't know when we have disagreed. Palmer's makes FANTASTIC stuff and you can get exactly what you want. However, you probably won't be able to find exactly what you want used, because no one hardly sells their palmer equipment. You'll have to spend a bit more for just one barrel, but you won't be disappointed and can get exactly what you want.

I looked at the Palmers barrels, the few reviews I could find said they were very heavy and not that great - are they good/worth the money? It is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for.

I once kept a mag I was going to sell because I put a Lapco barrel on it.

True story.

They make good products.

I've owned a palmers. In fact it's still sitting in my gear drawer. They are great barrels, but no better than any other barrel I've used.

My only complaints are as follows:
1. If you get the black powder coating it can start to flake off which doesn't look pretty.
2. Heavy. Not a problem, but it is heavier than any other barrel so take that into account.
3. buy some brasso. As it gets used it is going to lose interior polish and sheen and you need to clean it once a year with brasso to keep it nice.

Other than that they are great. However, they are overhyped. There are dozens of single barrels which are just as good and require less maintenance.

Yeah? I think I'm pretty much down to Lapco and the Hammerhead.

Hammerhead looks cool but it also seems like a lot of work for a single barrel (fin+barrel+muzzle)

They look cool though.

I dont even carry a swab any more since I started using Lapco barrels.
They self clean better than any barrel I've seen.
I dont know how or why but they do.
