View Full Version : How much would you pay for a in grip 12gram changer?

So for all those mag pistol lovers out there or stock class too I suppose. I think I have finally found an easier way to mount a 12gram in a mag grip, no details yet but I was wondering how much would you pay to have such an upgrade done? Wondering if there would be mass appeal or just me.... and yes I know this thread is worthless without pics so lets all say a prayer to the paintball gods that I get a USDA loan and not an FHA so that I can afford this now and not in 3 months

I guess for a Mag, I could see approaching $100. Would depend on function first, and then to a lesser degree looks. it would be a real novelty, so your market audience would be rather small.

nice choice! how many shots are you getting...that will be a major factor in gaining interest, and will the 12gr fit completely inside the frame? im still looking for a horizontal AsA to run the 12gr under the barrel, but this sounds pretty kool tho! any idea when you mite have some pics?

Mags get around 8-12 good shots out of a single 12 gram without modding.

I've put a 12gram changer inside a cf frame. It sticks out the bottom by a few inches.

HA! I just found out we got USDA approval so I can splurge! so as it is worked out now the only thing that should be sticking out of the bottom is what ever you use to tighten and losen the 12gram. I hope to have pictures up in a week or two.... depends on how long it takes for me to get parts in and for him to get work out.

I would really like one of these! $100 sounds about right however if was made into the frame with a quick release lever changer, I would spend $150+. I have been thinking about this for a while and would love to see a custom 12g in grip single frame, looking foward to the pics!

looks like unless we come up with a better/smaller option for running the air it will have to stick out a bit from the bottom.... but part of that is because it is going on the micromag body and I won't do any changes to that. Maybe I will also mock up a prototype using a minimag body my brother has laying around and a classic valve I have, I think that if I had a a body where I could drill and tap it through the rail I could make it work but I need time to work on that.

anybody know what options there are for aluminum hardline? or what say 1/8" or 1/16" aluminuym hardline would be rated for?

Between 1,000 -10,000 psi for 1/4 line depending on what your getting. The manufacture / shop selling you the stuff will be able to tell you. 99% of the time it will be stamped on the tubing.

It's ideal to get the 1/4 inch stuff. It's more of a standard line

We are still going back in forth on the design now, I think my original idea will have to be shelfed until I get a regular mag body that I don't mind milling a bit. I wanted to see what the smallest aluminum hardline I could get that would hold pressure to cut down on the size of the hole I would have to cut in the frame and the smaller it is the tighter it can be to the body

You might want to go with SS line then. Tube bending will weaken the walls since your streaching the metal at the bends. We have some 3/16 SS line at work but the fittings are quite large if I remember correctly

Make sure you leave room for the sear ;)

EDIT:

You know what this project needs, twist on 12g's. That way they'll be stock class legal too

Hmmm we talked about that in the planning stages its an option but I didn't want that for mine.... In fact screw in would have made it easier..... But as a guy that finds stock class great, as long as someone else is playing it, why would that make it stock class legal?

And as for room for the sear that is just the alum block before milling

Completely missed this

Reason being is unless you already plan on using a screw in type holder for the Co2 cartridges. One of the stock rules is...

Requires the removal (unscrewing) knob or housing to change the powerlet. (No lever changers.)
...and using a screw in type cartridge should fall in that rule.

if you were to hinge a hand guard off the back bottom of the frame that latched onto the trigger guard with a quick release it would be a 1 click unload and a lever action load. you could even make the hand guard have a place to hold a couple extra 12s.

My 2 cents

sorry for the 30 second photochop

He's working on a quick release system... how many turns does it need to have to count as stock class?

Pictures finally.... working out a few kinks still but it is a great first generation. While I am getting things set up at my house I am thinking about ways to get it almost completely concealed in grip.... I still want to try having it drop out the left side of the grip

Excellent v.1

I think something like this would need to be done from scratch. I had drawn up a design to machine a rail and frame as one solid piece. I took the rear design of the Classic RT with the banjo and incorporate it so the air flows through the grip up the bolt and out to the valve. Basically using a Classic RT valve in the setup.

yup yup robertson has the idea using a micromag 2000 body but the more i use it the more I like the off center feed.

I was thinking about casting the airline peice so I can run it the way I want.... too many small bends in too many weird angles and if you are thinking "isn't that alot of work??" If you oversized the OD of well anything a bucket of sand makes a very easy and quick way to pore some parts.... figureing out the molten metal part is all on you, but I have a few feelers out on alternative materials that are promising... basically I need to get the rest of my tools so I can start shrinking the air box itself so I can mount it better
