View Full Version : Gauging interest in a Micromag Foregrip.

I’m considering doing a small run of a basic grip with the Micro mount, 1 inch round, no finger grooves, no gas through, ULE drilled.

I may even do a similar grip for standard 2 screw mount (RTP style) FG, I like the clean lines of a ‘groove less’ fg….

Would there be any takers?

No real idea on price because I have no idea how many I can sell.

Conceptual question here:

Would it be lighter to take your design, hack it off maybe an inch down from the top and step the OD and add a set of double o-ring groves. Then slap a length of carbon fiber in there with an end cap? I know you roll with aluminum mostly, and there's a plethora of CF grips out there, but I'd think it'd be lighter on the ULE scale.

If you're not getting how I'm rolling think the old Shoebox shocker barrel plugs.

Sure it's doable but others are making those. ;)

These won’t be all that heavy, plus I will probably make the walls on these thinner than what the picture shows. I knocked that drawing out just to get the thread up.

Personally I like the clean sleek design (single part fg) plus I believe these will take a standard bicycle grip which some may want.

Also I have a guy that is asking me to make this specific grip. :)

I've been looking for a foregrip for months now! I would be totally interested, although the i'm not a big fan of the round grip - looks like the ikea pipe mod that was done, and it just seems out of place with the lines of the Micro. I would love to see a grip modeled after the benchmark grip frame that come with all the Micros.. I dont have mine in front of me, but i would guess a rectangular shape 3 to 4 inches long, 1.25 to 1.5 inches wide, 5/8 inches deep, with a smooth round curve on the front with a slightly more squared off curve on the back. Similar to an Invert mini foregrip without the pronounced bow on the front. Not necessary but welcome feature would be making it gas-thru, but that wouldnt be required for me to shell out the money.

Whatever happens, I'll be watching this thread closely! :) :) :)

I think it's pretty plain honestly. If it definitely fits a bike grip grip, it would be interesting, but I would still prefer the sides of the top 2" or so flattened. But then you are getting pretty similiar to the stock vert mount.

Might be interested in a single hole AM/MM mount one.

A little plain as is (which I like)
or you could throw on a set of these>

Or these.

I agree. I think the roundness of it would look odd with a Micromag due to there boxy and sharp cut lines. However, if it is this or nothing, I would much rather have this foregrip just because any Micromag foregrip is hard to come by. Good work!

I've never seen a stock MM from PTP (besides the EM) that didnt have a round FG.
Both Micros I own came with round grips.

I actually have a spare red/black Schwinn bmx grip around if someone wants it. Honestly, since I just had you mill a foregrip for me to fit, I really don't have a need for another, so my input is probably worthless.

I made some rudimentary images of what I was thinking, but uploading them seems to be an issue (they are jpg, 400x300 pixels - not sure what the problem is. It just tells me they are not valid..)

How about doing a sleeper foregrip where you can hide a lpr inside and run the line through and into the rail?

I’m up for anything you guys want to purchase, but this particular fg will go through pretty much as is. :)

I will gladly look at any drawings/sketches you want to put together. If we can sell a few at the right price I’ll make them.

Agreed. I just always thought even the stock Micro foregrips were odd-looking, which is a shame because the rest of the gun looks great. :)

So how many "made to fit" fg's do you want? I'm sure we can work out a deal. :)

luke
09-16-2011, 08:42 PM
What about this?

To give you an idea of it's dimensions, it is cut from 1.25 x .75 x 4.5 stock.

Gas through, one port right side.

Sign me up! Would it be possible to round the edges of the front face a bit more for comfort? Thats my only (constructive) criticism with this latest design. That would look seriously sexy on a micro...

Did you get my last email with an attachment?
Round sleeper grip+LPR+90* micro line for LP internals= 3.1" diameter grip
The only way I can see to do it would be a EM battery pack type FG.
Not sure there would be enough support to do a run.

So for the latest design, are you thinking of any ULE measures or just one solid hunk of aluminum? I was thinking you could ule the backside of the grip to cut some weight. How about an optional backside air inlet instead of bottom? Would allow for ule milling on the bottom.

The bottom needs to be drilled anyway so that could be plugged and an additional inlet could be added in the back as a mod.

As far a ule milling I'm not sure what that would do to the over-all look.

The raw un-machine stock weighs about 6.5oz, the current design will probably be around 4.5 ounces when done. (Just a guess)

the second inlet is not a bad idea but other wise id leave it the way it is.
