I am working under the assumption that most trigger stops are really just set screws, if that is the case, will these screws eventually damage the trigger frame? If so, is there any easy/cheap way to prevent this?

Yes, they are set screws. I guess you could use nylon tipped ones.

Do they actually cause enough damage to care about? Would it be enough to hurt resale value?

Search for user "flyingpootang" posts. He had a mod for installing small sections of o-ring in the back of trigger stop set screws. He did that because of the cost and difficulty in finding nylon tipped screws of the right size. Brownells or MidwayUSA might have the tipped screws.

I have coated some screw tips with black RTV. It lasts pretty well, but I'm not a trigger masher like some of my cohorts.
