Does anyone out there have both and can comment on which is better and why? I have an XM15 kit and it seems ok, but wondering if there is any real benefit of getting a Rainman one?

That's because he subscribes to the accuracy by volume theory like most of his friends!

Not the tactical approach.

I have never used an XM15 pump kit but I have a Cerberus Kit and a Rainman v1 kit. I see no real benefit to one vs the other. Both seem to do the job fine.

I prefer the rainman kit, to me its much smoother.

Am I right in thinking that the pump handle on the Rainman kit is aluminum?

No, its the same material that CCM handles are made from which is hard plastic??

Got the XM15 kit on my pumpmag and I'm very happy with it

Not had Rainman kit to compare to though

And like the CCM kits, rainman uses an aluminum back plate. Besides mounting the rod, it serves as a running surface for the main guide and the second guide, and as a end stop.

I definitely like second guides on cocker style pumps, but I'm sure on mags. Since the pump rod is guided well, a sturdy connection to the handle should be all you need while eliminating all of the three-point binding. I haven't played with single guided ones enough to dump my own second guide from my pump setup, but I have thought about it.

For sure though, the rainman kit can take some abuse. I expect the others would too, since they are simpler and pretty beefy.

Was that from twisting?

With the stainless bodies, you could use the body as a guide. :)

But can you get your finger between a minimag hole and pump handle?

The XM15 pump is shaped to fit under the Minimag body

Don't get any binding or twist on that, but I'll have to try it with regular mag body to compare

a huge benefit is that he is still making them...haha! have used the XM-15, AGD, and rainman kits and they all work great...very smooth!

Jay's (Ceber) kits require a lot of tweaking but work excellent, the Rainman kits are bolt on loveliness.

Never got a XM kit.

I've got a Cerberus kit. What tweaking needs to be done?

Yeah. I had to make my own pump rod since I'm using it on a RT-length rail, but after that was done it works flawlessly. I don't even know what adjustments I could do, other than mess with the length of the pump rod.

Maybe you got lucky

They're prone to stick and lock up. Big E's kit damaged his bolt and most know about the rubbing of the bodies. I sent mine back to Jay to fix one problem that was beyond me.

A lot of times the kit just needs to be held in a certin angle and then tightned down so it keeps the angle to work right. It takes a little finiking to get it to work but once it's working it's butter.

:D Mine must be already pre-tuned, or I got lucky. It does work like butter!

I also made my pump rod out of brass, so it shouldn't damage the bolt. If anything, the pump rod will wear and I'll need to replace it after a few years.

I know the XM15 pumpkit doesn'tallow room for a foregrip. Which pump kits do?

all you need is a longer bolt and you could put a vert asa or foregrip on there, mine has some holes behind the pump handle which look like there used to be a hitman plate on there...
