AO: Just wondering if anyone knew any information about the prototype blue X-mag that Tom built. I've seen it around time to time, but knew nothing about it. I was wondering if any old timers or tom could post some information about it!

What would you like to know?

I suspect Tom still has the prototype.

I still remember making it. I was looking for my files the other day actually, but didn't find them yet.

I would love to get my hands on some of them...
On one of your basement vids (just found it, part two 1:15min) you showed this spicy slotted one of a kind X body.
I wish I could see this gun finished in RL before I die. So please do it. :hail:

Sorry, but I couldn't release the CAD of them.

The reason I was looking for the files is because that gun you mention is in the same set of files and I am now intending to get it finished. :)

Just wondering why the design was changed from this to the actual X-mag. How many one off creations did you make while designing the X-mag?

Prototype Xmag
Canadian Xmag (the one you designed for your friend, if I remember correctly there was a maple leaf?)
Aztec Xmag
"Extremely CnC" Xmag (from the basement video)

By any chance do you have any pictures of these mags?

They will not, That was a one off that was built just for Simon. I love the body enough that I have discussed with him making a replica of it for myself. He asked if I wouldn't. Which I agreed to. Now to design my own xmag milling for the new euro body I have. Well I know the milling but Ive gotta remodel it onto the xmag.

The original X-Mag was made before that one. I designed that one just for myself (and a friend at the time, although only one was ever made). It was in effect my payment for doing the X-Mag body. I got the machine time to make my own personal gun.

We made probably 4-5 one off's in the process of messing around and making guns to see what we liked. There used to be pictures of them all on here.

I have no idea what happened with the Aztec version.

Awesome! I went through the old archive posts but didn't have any luck tracking down the early xmag pictures. Most of the pictures that were posted had been attached to the AO server which was wiped a long time ago.

All the other pictures were hosted on sites that have gone under since. Who knew it would be so difficult to track down pictures from 10 years ago...

The way-back machine has been very helpful though!! :D

i'll have to find all the pictures I took when I toured the factory back when they first came out. the only one I have handy is the one of tom holding my gun
