View Full Version : For everyone who is NOT on a team

BTAutoMag

I was thinking of making a team that is scattered over... well... everywhere.

who is allowed on this team?
Anyone currently shooting a mag!

how do you get on this team?
ask politly and shoot a mag!

What's this team called?
AO Army

conditions of membership:
shoot a mag
if youre at a field or event with a fellow AO Army member you stick together

I'm thinking of jersey idea's but I think this is an idea that will/should take off

opinions?

EDIT!

Team now officially called "AO Army" with the logo being the 2 magpies, one holding a pie the other holding a mag with a patch design based off of Toms untermag creed

Another possibility - "magpie/AOA" patches. Normal iron on for jerseys, and velcro for those of us that have BDU style gear. Maybe do two types? One in color, and one muted olive/tan.

OML custom patches:

If someone can do the artwork I have the connections at Raza for the jerseys.

BT - lets us talk more about this next week after TB7. There are a lot of things to think about and it is never too early to start. It would be extremely helpful if there was someone in the local area who could coordinate with on things like lodging and even places where we could socialize before and after the game.

Another thing - if we are going to fight as a coordinated group, then we are going to need a general :), preferably someone with some experience doing that sort of thing.

BTAutoMag
05-27-2013, 08:12 PM
can we incorporate this:

http://www.automags.org/forums/showthread.php?93370-The-Untermag-Revolution-Creed

rschoi_75
05-28-2013, 12:52 AM
Our sign, “chuff chuff”, represents a point on the fantasy / reality line. This point moved when the LvL 10 changed the Automag. Long held beliefs have prevented this new truth from breaking into the mainstream. The Untermag Revolution was thus born. The sign is many things: a greeting between Revolution members—as they are among friends and a recognition of brotherhood telling the enlightened that you too seek knowledge above and beyond the mainstream. When directed toward an outsider, it is a signal that they do not wish to learn. We must accept the fact not all will join us.

Our symbol is the red star enclosed in a black circle. The circle represents unity, its color, black, shows that we are an underground community. The points on the red star represent all of the players that do not understand our creed. The points flow into the stars center showing that all are welcome to work with us in seeking to understand the truth. The red color represents that we are active in our communications with others both inside and outside the Revolution.

Seems fitting to bring it back. No offense, but I like it better than "magpies", and I'd prefer to do something simple for a patch. Simple is easier to read/identify. The logo could be re-used for a jersey with the magpie design. The logo could just go on the sleeves with the magpies on front.

Here is my idea (please bear with me on the designs, I draw like a 5 year old).

A.O.A - we can wrap the text "chuff chuff" in the outer ring of the "O". I just couldn't do it in MS Paint.

http://i888.photobucket.com/albums/ac84/rschoi_75/c6656086-7356-4111-b2e3-a61fc228c454_zps2e16dab6.jpg (http://s888.photobucket.com/user/rschoi_75/media/c6656086-7356-4111-b2e3-a61fc228c454_zps2e16dab6.jpg.html)

BTAutoMag
05-28-2013, 07:58 AM
If you look on the last page someone had a patch design. I like the solid black circle over the ring. If we were to do patches it would be the black circle with red star then AO Army accross the top in white with chuff chuff in smaller writing along the botton. The jerseys would still have the magpies but the jerseys would have the patch design on each bicept and the magpies would be wearing the patch

Like this? or do you want the text inside the black circle (curving around the edge)? I don't know how curve text on my program, so someone else will have to do that for us. This is what I get for going into finance... my design skills are remedial at best.

I saw patch and velcro patch. I'm talking like an elastic armband with the patch on it similiar to what they use in rec play to designate sides. Even if a patch I could always just pick up my own armband and sew it onto it I guess.

Hmmmm. A Velcro back patch would be great. Then I could get armbands my self in the basic field side team colors. And stick the patch on it. Or just stick it anywhere Velcro sticks! And a patch is normally cheaper than a jersey.

BigEvil, as for a general... I believe there should be someone in charge... me being the founder (I claim that title and IT'S MINE)... wont do it, lol. I dont have the time.

I believe there needs to be a few people at the top who have a master list and can lead the troops but as we grow we will need different factions that spring up. so if theres a mag group in cali, obviously they will keep in touch with the people in new jersey but its stupid to think of them as having 1 person in charge.

I wanted to start this as more of a "holy crap theyre everywhere!!!!!!!!" team. imagine viper scenarios going to all these event all over the USA and they see our jerseys and patches and shirts at EVERY event they go to, we get attention and notoriety. pretty soon people will litterally saying "holy crap theyre everywhere!"

I prefer the original Mag-Pies concept to the AO-ARMY. I'm down for either but the former seems more fun and ambiguous while the later is bland and would seem to imply that we think we are tough. Same reason I don't like Tappout apparel.

I dig the idea of going with both. As in The Mag-Pies are the AO-ARMY. Either way I can help with the design stuff. I used to do allot of sig-images around here.

BT, this is your baby so you take point. If you want help from me just ask, I have the time. First thing I would do is draw us our own pair of toon Magpies.

The reason for the AO Army is to simplify the patches. the tshirts and jerseys will be heavily magpie.

Then redraw the MP (That is holding the Emag) doing a biecep shot (no emag) like this with the AO arm band wrapped around the bicep >>

Will do.

Magpies are actually cool looking birds. Much cooler looking than crows:

Concept Art:

Just the starting line art to see if you folks were down with the concept. I like Lukes idea of having the bird sort of flexing the EMag. I turned them back to back because it felt more cohesive that way. Plus it allows for the pie and the EMag to be separate focal points with the characters being the core element. I also like them back to back to reflect the idea of the AO-ARMY/MagPies having each others back.

I like the concept. Why not have both birds with a gun up kinda back to back since you are going with an actual magpie bird? Or is the real pie for comic relief?

Kinda what I thought. Better that than the other way around. Its a game people supposed to be fun.

edit: I see the confusion, I changed the wording above. I meant to do away with the emag entirely. It seems like a mute point on a paintball jersey.

I thought the logo in the first post was pretty cool, all you would have to do is drop the arm holding the emag, redraw in a bicep curl and add the patch.
Both birds with patches seem like over-kill.
Just my 2 cents. :)

Wow! Love the whole idea. I'd definitely be in for patches and a t-shirt, and possibly a Jersey as well. It's a shame but I'm pretty sure I'm the only one at my field who shoots a mag....that doesn't mean I have to roll solo all the time, right?

TyeStick
05-29-2013, 02:43 PM
I'd be down for a Jersey. A shirt as well, so long as its printed on a quality t-shirt, like (Jerzee, Heavyweight Blend), similar to a Hanes Beefy t-shirt.

luke, if someone can draw it up, that's what we'll do.

Also some news. Patches are in production, not a final price yet but they are being made and will MOST LIKELY be available at TunaBall

On the magpie logo I would vote to do away with two things, the emag and the arm band on the MP holding the pie.
Then redraw the MP (That is holding the Emag) doing a biecep shot (no emag) like this with the AO arm band wrapped around the bicep >>

Big update:

Patches are being made as we speak and are being shipped directly to the field at tunaball7!!

Price for patches will be 10 $ each and this will all be nonprofit. The lucky ones at tunaball will be receiving the first 25 and after that we will have more made to ship out, still at a 10 $ cost.

They will be embroidered with velcro backing

I'm happy to. But just to be clear, are you looking for someone to draw Heckle and Jeckle? If so I'd have to decline. One general principle I don't draw other peoples characters. Just my opinion but I also don't think it serves the idea well. Whether it's me or someone else, I think these characters should by by AO for AO.

If people see original artwork they will be more inclined to curious about it. If they Heckle and Jeckle they will think we are just big fans (of the Baltimore Ravens ;) ).

I agree with the above.

I like the name magpie but I would prefer to use the AGD lion logo. A magpie, or a cartoon of the actual bird could be incorporated into the actual AGD logo, perhaps on top of the shield.

Or maybe have the lions leaning on a pie instead of the shield and have a magpie on top of that. The text in the banner could be changed to a catchy slogan or it could be left as is. Then instead of saying Airgun Designs in the middle it could say AO Army

For a slogan my idea is.
Because a magpie never flies alone.

My idea is of course pending the approval of TK.

I'm also in for 2 patches. Is getting some without the velcro backing a possibility?

Dear official mag-pie-ers

I will this weekend be starting a couple different threads that will be replacing this one. One will be our official team page with member "guidelines". One will be a location page that you will post what big games we will be represented at. And one will be an official AO Army/magpie swag page where you will be able to purchase team swag.

Heads up in advance.

Let our voices be heard!

Yes, if there is enough interest I can have a run made. I'm having the first run made right now, and a 2nd run of velcro backed to be started next week. I don't think it would be a big issue to add a few "iron on" style patches to the order.

Let's wait until BTAutoMag makes his "sales" thread, and we can get an interest list going there.

I mentioned it in the "TB roll call" thread since that's where the Tunaball people were posting.

The tornados in OK caused lots of problems over the weekend, and the patches got stuck in transit. I'm disappointed by it, but it's a non-issue when compared to people losing their homes and getting hurt.

I take full responsibility for it, and I apologize. I will get sales up and going as soon as I receive them.

Obviously, given the circumstances, no apologies are necessary. I did not see the thread and was curious.
