Gentleman,

As some of you know, we will be forgoing our annual Tunaball event in 2014 in favor of trying to organize a big AO all-mags team for Living Legends 7 (May 2014??)

Although it is just under a year away, we really need to get this started as soon as possible. If we are going to go as an organized group, the logistics need to be figured out, and if we are going to play as an organized team on the field, we are going to need people to orchestrate that as well.

Some of the things to think about;

Lodging – where will we be sleeping? Is camping an option?
Jerseys/Tee shirts - We will need someone to handle this
Staging at the field – Where do we set up? Can we all be together? Will we have access to our vehicles or do we have to lug our gear and stage somewhere else?
After party – Do we want to have our own party after the game? Where? Who lives locally that can set that up?
Game play – Can we get 2 or 3 people to act as the AO “Commander” and Lieutenants to help make sure we move as a team?

There are probably 100 more question I can come up with and I have answers to none, so we are going to need some help.
To get this all going, I propose that we set up an EVENT COMMITTEE. I would like to get a handful of people to help out and take responsibility for a piece of organizing this. It would be ideal if we had some people who played this event already but who are also LOCAL to it and are familiar with the area.

I spoke with TK and he approved a separate sub forum for us in the Meet and Greet section where we can keep this all together.

Please post up if you would like to volunteer to help out on this. The more the merrier.

the BEO are behind this and want to show the world at Living Legends that AO or Mags(from the team that took the MVT) is the norm, and not an aberration.

As a Living Legends veteran and local to the area I'll be happy to help in any way I can

Lodging – where will we be sleeping? Is camping an option?

There is quite a lot of space available for camping, I would recommend setting up early on the Friday before that way we could set up a more organized camp site and keep everyone together, and there are hotels close by if some people want to be a little more comfortable

Jerseys/Tee shirts - We will need someone to handle this

Will we be running under the AO Army or are we going to set up a different team just for LL? I personally vote to play under the AO Army that way people wont end up having to buy multiple jerseys/shirts for essentially the same thing.

Staging at the field – Where do we set up? Can we all be together? Will we have access to our vehicles or do we have to lug our gear and stage somewhere else?

There is a main staging area near the concession and chrono range. In previous Living Legends I have gone solo so I don't have to much knowledge on how things are set up, but yes we can stage as a team. I'm not sure if we can reserve spots or if its a first come first served basis, the Bezerkers might know more on this subject as they were staged right alone the field right next to Bedlum. If not in the main staging area there are many places to set up as a team.

EDIT: Yes you will have access to your vehicles and can stage out of them if you would like(I've done it, I even slept in my car during LL2)

After party – Do we want to have our own party after the game? Where? Who lives locally that can set that up?

If we have a centralized campsite it would make setting up an after party much easier, have people bring their local/favorite brew as well as some food/snacks/non-alcoholic beverages(for any younger guys)

Probably a good idea to try and get some tentative numbers together and see who and how many want to camp to get an idea of how large an area would be needed. If only a handful, not a big deal but if you looking at 30-40 people wanting to sleep in hot sweaty tents you may need to have someone reserve some area. I like the idea of having a staging/rest are but nothing interests me less than camping in 80+ deg weather after a day or two of paintball. Joliet is a decent sized place Nd has a lot of hotels within 10 minutes of the field.

I heard the nearest hotel was like 40 minutes away, but that is just what I heard. For the price of being in a hotel for a weekend, you can rent an RV for a little more :)

Again, these are all questions we will work on in the coming months.

Do you want on the event committee also ?

You need to fire you intel guy. There are tons of hotels next to both I80 and IIRC i55? There is also a casino there and I think a college so there is lots of lodging. I had a room for $ 60/night booked two months prior this year. I might be willing to be on some sort of committee depending on what needs to be done.

If anyone needs an "assistant" to do leg work let me know, I am a horrible communicator so I rather not commit to something like that.
Good idea on the rv I'd be willing to split cost with someone local to rent an rv to sleep in.

That whole area is covered with hotels. I pass by headed to the in laws a few times a year. I'm not what one would call local. So I'm no help there. But I do want to make it to this. Not enough time for me to get all the gear I felt was needed for this past one. I don't want to miss this next one.

With any luck the wife will play it also. So we should bring 2 mags along.

I am local (Chicago) and have been going since LL III. I can address some of the questions posed:

Staging/camping: This is usually first come, first serve. This year I arrived before noon on Friday and still did not get my "choice" spot. I'm thinking of arriving Thursday next year just to set up a campsite where I want (along the tree line in camp ground 1). The only groups that generally get reserved spots are ones that are helping out with the wounded veterans. If this is something the group wants to pursue, Sean Scott from CPX would be the one to check with. Alternately, you can set up a campsite and then claim a picnic table to actually stage out of in Central Park (closer to the field and air fills). I just stage out of my tent. You cannot drive your vehicle onto any of the designated camping areas, though there is a designated place for RV's. There are no hookups for water/electricity, so plan accordingly.

Lodging: There are plenty of hotels along I-55/I-80 near Joliet if you don't want to camp.

After Party: This year I brought a projector, XBox360, and my brother brought a keg of beer he brewed. If we all hung out as a group, it would be really cool to have all of our campsites together so we can setup areas for a movie, beer pong, and maybe a fire pit and/or grill. I would be willing to contribute to this effort as far as providing certain equipment (electronics, a nice quiet inverter generator, 10X10 canopy for common use, shower tent, etc). I can't commit to a team side yet, as I generally stick with whatever team my brother and his scenario team are on (Hellions), but I'd have no problem sharing my things and providing logistical insight as the planning process moves forward. I bring so many things with me for this excursion, they might as well get the maximum amount of use!

I get there on Thursday afternoon. It seems like each year people get there earlier and earlier. I still had choice of anything this year, but next year....who knows. I can do my best to section off an appropriate sized camping area, and it was I who claimed the pavillion the Bezerkers staged in this year. I can do that again next year. A pavillion will only hold about 20-30 people comfortably. If we surpass that amount of people their are loose picnic tables around that I can try to horde and put near the pavillion. I have no problem doing both of those things. The only thing I ask is that if anyone else gets there 'early', like thursday or early friday morning they try and help me keep claim to our areas. If I try to hold camping and staging for like 100 people others are going to get irritated if they see like 5 dudes telling them they cant set up cause its reserved.

I shouldn't have a problem getting off work and helping you set up/hold any area we need. Once we get a banner made we should have it sent to either you or myself that way we can hang it over the staging area while we are laying claim to our spot.

no one here(not even TK) has enough pull to set the date for the game. it happens when it happens. it is a little more than 10 months to go and i would expect a date set somewhere in the February/March months, but it could be anytime. never paid attention to the times, as its my first time planning to go.

If I can get a new trailer over the next few months, I can bring my pig smoker and do pulled pork for a very very nominal fee (like cost) per sandwich for those assembled. I will let you know how it goes as I am doing 120# this weekend for a party to test out the system. But my smoker pulls for crap as it is on an old boat trailer. I have to see if I can get a different trailer and someone who can weld to take a look at it. Other then that I have all the equipment. I would just need some sort of power source for the rotisserie if someone has a small generator or something.

that's how you chrono any multiple barreled gun, or you take all 3 barrels, chrono them at the same time and "average" it out. all fields do it differently, so don't expect one method over the other. i would also make sure that you have a backup if that monstrosity doesn't check out or is finished.

For a guy who has never been to an event like this could someone explain how it works as far as game play? Is it two massive teams, what are the rules, what do people do when they are eliminated, what is legal to shoot, what if you run out of paint or air during the game...etc....etc.

BTAutoMag
06-21-2013, 09:51 AM
2 generals that command 2 team with 4 legions per team. the general deligates tasks to the legion commanders and we accomplish the missions given to us...

that all falls to hell in the first hour and we generally just run till we find the enemy and shoot at them.

at living legends ALL firing modes are legal capped at 13bps 280fps (pumps 300)

when you are eliminated you just get the hell out of dodge, go back to your hospital and get reinserted or if youre lucky enough to have a medic by you, get whipped and keep shooting.

running out of air is the big problem as people are more concerned with shooting then conserving their paint. so if you yell "does anyone have a spare pod of paint" or "im out of paint" youll generally find yourself with free on field paint.

nothing really you can do with out of air except leave or act as a suicidal distraction

chances of me making this event are about as good as me winning the lottery. having said that on top of the jerseys we are working on i think it would be cool if you could have your own color of paint.

So if the rules are ROF will be capped at 13 bps how do they feel about RT Mags ?

BTAutoMag
11-05-2013, 02:19 PM
they really dont care about ROF but they needed a number to write down. if you ABUSE it you will be warned and judge punched. I unloaded a hopper at over 20bps right next to a ref and all he said was "HOLY %&$#"

to what teams are everyone wanting to go on? New Empire – Mike Phillips or Horde – Kevin “Buckshot” of Team Hellions

RoF is dictated to electros, so i'm assuming that mech, RT and Pneu guns don't fall into that since it doesn't have electronics. the RT rule is again in between the lines.

i would suggest that "Team AO" get together before the event and get a case count. it will save $5 overall. $70 for 30+ cases beats $75 per person, or $80 at the event. does any one know what paint CPX uses, so we know what to expect?

does anyone know if they allow FS rounds and if you can get them from the field?

FS rounds. The previous events you could bring your own. you can also bring .50 if you choose to shoot that also. Usually get to pick between Evil and Marbs..i think. Evil for sure though.

I have lined up a paint sponsership for us. we will be getting it for MORE then 5$ off. this includes you too wimag. more details later.

We will be playing for the horde under DJ Honu with the CPX legion teams alongside Infamous. again, more details later.

and again, they really dont care too much about ROF as long as its not abused and mags are awesome enough for them to look the other way

I did read in the rules that you can bring your own FS rounds for sure....I do remember that...and the part about not playing for 6 hours after your last beer.

Looks Like Ill be taking almost the entire month off work for all this... I have a wedding a week before this.. Well see how this works out for me. If people want to camp at my farm in manhattan(5ish miles from cpx), Im more than Ok with it.

on second thought... I might be more likly to pop a small tent in the middle of all of ours at the event and store all of the museum guns in it...

I'm a; tell me when, where and what and I'll be there, kinda guy. Still need new bottles 68/3&4.5k on my regs. 3-5 halos 2 mags(emag needs a battery and charger), angel needs a solonoid. If anyone can help with my list of parts, Lmk. And yes Scott, we would finally meet.

Yeah,

If you didn't pre-register by Monday you aren't in, unless by luck or powerful bribery. They will randomly assign you, so you could be playing for Horde or Empire.

I still have a registration+air to unload! I've had 2 other guys interested on PbN but neither has gotten back with me. I'd rather my last Horde-Vandals AO Army registration go to an AO'er just like the first one. I'm just looking to almost recoup my costs @ $65, which is $10 cheaper than what it costs anyone else right now. Just PM me if you want to buy mine and guarantee you're on the right team.
