I am trying to figure out the various versions of this barrel kit. I have seen the following two scenarios:

1. 2k3 (original, long inserts), 2k4 (shorter inserts), 2k7 (not sure of change), 2012 (claim same as 2007 but better honing process)

2. 2k4 (original, long inserts), 2k7 (shorter inserts), 2012 (claim same as 2007 but better honing process)

I'm leaning towards #2. Please help if you can.

I'd also like to know what bore sizes were available for each version.

My original long insert kit has .684, .686, .688, .690, and .692.

My short insert kit has .680, .684, .686, .688, .690, .692, and .696.

I've used an original kit for a decade now and just picked up a kit with shorter inserts. They are both great kits.

What barrels (kits, two-piece, or one-piece) have bores smaller than .680?

Off the top of my head, my Freak set has a .793 (?) stock insert and I also have two of Ty Mcneers smaller brass inserts which are smaller I just cannot remember the sizes right now.

The Empire kit that comes with the Sniper and Resurrection Autococker have .790 backs IIRC.

I didn't know they made a 2012 version - I thought they had gone out of business years prior.

They are on eBay. I don't know if they're legit or not. Might just be 2007 surplus, and the seller is trying to pass them for a new product.

A thread I saw on pbn stated one member called Powerlyte, and the person that answered explained the 2012 as being the same as a 2k7 with a better honing process. I think that post was a year or two old though. I tried calling the number, and it has been disconnected.

I guess I should contact the eBay seller to see if he/she knows anything.

BigEvil - Can you please clarify you bore sizes? Either you typo'ed or have very large paintballs...

I saw that J&J is making couple of smaller backs for their Edge kits, .676 and .679.

Does anyone know if a Freak back was made for the 2006 Angel Speed threads ?
