My friend's output gage is pegged no matter how he adjusts the pressure. Anyone know what is wrong? Is the gage worn out?

What do you mean by Pegged? (I guess I am dumb.)

By pegged I assume it's past max pressure output. That sounds like a bad regulator seal. See the flatline maintenance classic thread at the top of this forum. Good luck.

Pegged is an automobile reference. When your car is pegged out the car is going so fast that the speedometer pointer is all the way against the stop peg. Hence the slang, "Pegged out".

They will fix it for free, but then theres shipping it there and shipping it back. And then you have to wait for it to get back, so its just as good to replace it.:)
