velocity must have been crazy high to do that kind of damage. no explanation on the youtube page...did he want to see what it would do?

idiots...

I'm not sure I believe this one.....

what, you think that's a fake hole in his arm with fake blood oozing out???

Someone from the local field says it's most likely a reball. I've personally never played with one so am not sure.

That most definitely is a reball or maybe a frozen paintball.
But it's extremely dumb, that's for sure...

Stupid is as stupid does. Why didn't he just shoot him in the back of the head and have done with? Some convulsions followed by a quick death and ...end of story. I'd like to see the vid of when the booze wore off and the pain of healing a 3/4" hole in your arm begins. Idiots!!! I have more then my fair share of scars from being shot point blank while trying to do paint checks and playing tourney ball. If self inflected injuries are cool ...count me out!

To go one beyond, Some fool asked for spec.s on the gun, this is all we need is 20 idiot's trying to set up to do this! There's a difference between freedom of speech and promoting Stupidity. You tube obviously only cares about # of hit to a vid and not responsibility. Why don't they just vid a school shooting? WTF alot of sicko's will watch it. I've spent a some what long paintball career trying to promote the sport, and then something like this , Just think, Son asks Mom & Dad if he can play paintball. M&D see this vid, I don't think the sport will acquire a potential new Star. And yet YOUTUBE hasn't pulled this yet. Lets hope for a major infection and loss of arm. Let's video that. It;ll get lots of hits. Hey wait a sec. next vid we use a 12 ga. w/#4 shot, it'll rip your whole arm off, wouldn't that be a funny video?

I'm thinking that this is a staged event. There is no way a full sized paintball is lodging in someones arm, even if it was a reball. He didn't even flinch when the shot was fired. That tells me that there was no impact power. In order for it to break the skin and embed itself, the force would have to be so large that it would have moved his arm against the fence as well. I suspect the guy had some sort of old injury or possibly even a new one that they exploited for the sake of the video.

Reball is what it was. And they cranked the velocity

the minor amount of bleeding seemed wrong to me also

the minor amount of bleeding seemed wrong to me also

Its displacement of vascular structure. Fat muscle and such. I bet it blead more later on. Unless you bust an artery, it wouldnt spray much blood anyways.

As an EMT, i will say you'd be amazed how large an injury can be with relatively little blood. And his arm appears to be fully against the fence already.

Considering my wife is having a cyst removed out of her eyelid Tuesday I'd rather not even think about that.

Don’t dismiss this vid’s authenticity based on the reactions. I am from the culture these monkeys are from and I assure you, that is EXACTLY the reaction I would expect.

Regardless of the reality of the video the intelligence of it proves that people can live with out a brain.

You must not deal with the public much if you need this to prove that.

I wouldn't say I have a need to prove it. I suppose its more of amazement that this lack of fortitude has been allowed to continue in the evolutionary time line of humanity. :p

Just look up the Darwin awards and get someone to give you a neck massage afterwards. Cause you will be shaking your head in disbelief a lot...

Try an experiment. Take a marble or reball and press it against your arm in the same location as the arm in the video. Press until you can't stand the pain. Did you come anywhere near breaking through the skin? I'm betting you would press the skin and muscle tight against the bone long before the skin even started to break. You could argue that the skin couldn't react fast enough such that it started to tear without being pressed due to the speed of the projectile, but a paintball gun can't fire a projectile that fast. The skin happens to be very elastic. The mean ultimate tensile strength of skin is about 21.5 MPa (3118psi). Given a paintball is 0.363" in diameter, that would equate to about 1132lb of force on the impact area as the paintball pushed the skin in. Since the paintball does not have a sharp point or edge, the force is exerted across the entire contact area stretching the skin until it breaks. A paintball with a mass of 0.035oz would have to be traveling about 900 ft/s to impart that force. Any large blunt object with enough energy to break the sking and embed itself usually does much more internal damage as well. I know that if someone put over 1000lbs of force on my arm, it would probably break. This force is over 10x the force of a normal paintball hitting an arm. I don't know of any paintball guns that can even get a paintball up to the required velocity to do this type of damage.

So, with science as my guide, I still maintain that it is fake.
