In case anyone cares, I deleted the post regarding the collections due to the constant need for some members to go off subject and in my opinion argue and belittle for the pure sake of doing so. Not sure who posted the pic, but pretty much figured it would get locked anyways, so I cut out the middleman.

Thanks to those who provided legitimate responses.

Sorry to hear that. Never fun to have to deal with stuff like this. Especially on AO. I thought it was a good topic, but you can't make everyone happy all the time. By deleting it you took the higher ground and demonstrated how wise and mature "most" of the AO users are. ;) I don't mean to start anything back up but instead I just give you a pat on the back.

This is not fair to Shartley. I was one of the ones that liked him, but I fully understand the other point of view. At least he contributed (wood grips, sig pics).

The only point of your post was to stir poo, which you were accusing the thread of doing.

I was simply trying to explain why the thread vapored to make it clear I took it down rather than getting locked or what. Also was a way for me to not so subtly point out why we can't have nice things sometimes.

I would just like to point out that Vbulletin has a great Ignore List function built into the forum. All you need to do is....

Add AO members to your ignore list:


At the top of the screen click "Settings"
On left hand side of screen, click "Edit Ignore list"

Add anyone you want to ignore. You will have a chance to change your mind if you would like.

I didn't dislike him, I liked him for the most part but didn't always agree with him. (But that's ok) He was a hard pill to swallow 50% of the time though, lol. He was a smart guy which allotted him some extra tolerance. ;)

I will admit this made me laugh a bit. Nicely done.

Was the deleted thread the one about who is getting all your stuff when you die ? I hope that wasn't the thread, I posted in that and would hate to think that without that post being on the interwebs that my gear would not know where to go if something happened to me.

Yeah, without your post it all defaults to me. Turns out this post will hold up in a court of law too. So..... works for me!

that rule was eliminated after i suffered a day of going to Jungle Cat per your request. BAM !! See you next month...bought Craigs BL Closer.....cant wait to get it.

The back story as I remember it. Mind you this was in 2004 so slightly fuzzy on specifics now. Shartley had promised a bunch of stuff to be used as prizes or giveaways at the AO NewEngland game. At the last minute he decided to dictate that they could not go to certain people that were in attendance. When the organizers refused to make it so they couldn't receive the prizes Shartly pulled all the promised prizes and I'm sure there was more heated discussions going on.

OPBN, I thought you had a legitimate concern in regards to your collection. Sorry others couldn't take it more seriously. Anyways, back in 2007 one of my best friends (who was actually the guy who got me into Paintball back in 1996) passed away and his mom didn't know what to do with all of his Paintball gear so she ended up giving it to me. He hadn't played in awhile so it wasn't the nicest of gear (older Tippmann 98, Sheridan pistol, Co2 tanks, and a few assorted pieces of gear) but I still have it and will for a long time in memory of my friend.
