1st Micromag

I recently purchased a Gen 4 Pro Team Products Micromag from another MCB Member. Back when I first started I owned an automag but I always wanted one of these but never purchased one. This year I came back into the sport and told myself I was going to get one. It was a uber cheap, dust black, all original(valve and all) but it needed a rebuild and did not come with the Vertical ASA(unicorn of VASA's). Found another member, C_losjoker, that had a Micromag Vertical ASA so i snagged that. I always loved the Pro Team Products Intruder Expansion Chamber, So i purchased one From rgunn4 for this micromag(I now have 3 PTP Intruder X chambers). I figured I'd pay homage to Pro Team Products with this Mag. Haha ... I picked up a 8" Lapco Bigshot barrel as well...

So I decided To Get this one Anodized. Forest at PTP was nice enough to send me bare aluminum intruder housing pieces at no cost! Next it was time to find Someone to anodize it! I made this thread (http://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/custom-projects-custom-questions/274628-need-help-finding-place-anodize.html). After numerous quotes(12 week waiting list) and alot of no responses, I was told to message another MCB member, pdobrove. He sent me some of his work and I was super impressed. His price quote and time frame for completion was super reasonable. He sent me Pictures of the process to keep me updated.

Here are the pictures:

As you may have realized by how many pictures I took, I'm in love with this gun now!

The Do List for this Gun:

1. Send out Intruder Expansion To Forest at PTP to get rebuilt/reassembled
2. Purchase/install/tune Level 10 bolt
3. Possibly Pick up 2 Vertical Feed Adapters(If they Are Made)

Shout outs:

Can not thank Pdobrove enough for the high level of excellence and professionalism on this anodizing! I definitely will be sending more guns your way to get anodized. I would recommend him to anyone looking for top notch anodizing on their marker. It Seriously is a work of art! :youtheman:

Also Shout out to Forest at PTP for all the help/support and for putting up with my 20+ emails about all of this! LOL

Last but not least anyone I purchased parts from on MCB or AO for this build. Without the parts I bought from you guys, this wouldn't have been possible.

Now onto my "build from parts" Micromag...... To be Continued(2nd post) :D

2nd Micromag

This gun didnt even exist.. it started by me needing to find a Micromag Vertical ASA and i found one that came with a gen 4 body and power feed along with it.. purchased it for a great price from MCB member, PumpMan10988.....then once i bought this I found C_losjoker with just the vertical asa for sale and bought that as well(for my black and yellow ano'd micro).... need less to say i decided to piece a gun together... haha

First purchased a Minimag Valve (matching serials) from Grelvire on AO. I couldn't pass up a good deal...I would have liked to find a micromag valve but that would have been a bit hard...i'll keep an eye out for one! ;)

Next I went looking for a complete trigger frame... I am a single trigger kind of guy and knew that micro's came with benchmark single trigger frames, so opened up a WTB on AO and found Tunaman with a mint condition micromag benchmark tigger frame assy(with some benchmark grips as well). Another great deal.

Thirdly, Needed to find a Sear assy, Field Strip Screw, some macro fittings, and for this second one i wanted to run a conventional Benchmark Expansion chamber and ASA(mounted to trigger frame). found all that from MCB member OPBN.

Lastly I needed a barrel. I wanted to keep it nostalgic PTP Micromag style, so i decided to get a 10" Armson Pro Series from PTP themselves.. I know these came on the micromag 2000's and up but it works just fine for my gen 4.. I've always want a Armson barrel and now i do!

Micromag fully assembled:
(Was waiting for the Benchmark XChamber so i threw on one of my extra Intruder Xchambers to get a proper look at it)

Changed out the grips

After some adjustments to get it shooting properly(http://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/air-gun-designs/275237-minimag-valve-issue.html), Its working great!

Next things in store for this one:

1. Level 10 kit
2. Anodizing by pdobrove(Debating color scheme)
3. Hopefully a Vertical Feed
4. Enjoy this great gun!

Thanks to OPBM, Tunaman, PumpMan10988, and Grelvire for the Great Parts that made this build possible.

Thanks to Everyone that helped in my minimag valve thread to get it shoot properly!

Help me keep these Awesome PTP Micromags alive!

Looks awesome! My favorite part is seeing it assembled! You're too kind with your praise! Better watch out... I might borrow that if we make it out to cpx ;)

Congrats on the build. I love seeing the start/finished project. I can't wait to argue about this gun 10-20 years from now. People will definitely think it is factory. Props to everyone who helped!

Haha I hear ya on that... I wanted a color scheme that went with the age of the gun and that design(sponge/splash aka bonsai splash) screams micromag! lol

Question... how did you end up dealing with the steel breech ring in the body? Did pbodrove mask it, or did Forest punch it out before it was anodized?

To be completely honest i did not know about the steel ring and neither did pdobrove. I asked forest at ptp what to look for if i did damage it by anodizing... he said it will look fried. I sent him a picture and he said it looked good.. gun cycles perfectly... he said it all has to do with how the body is racked when it is being ano'd.. some rack it good and you wont have an issue and some rack it wrong and will have an issue... We may have gotten lucky on mine.. but on the next one i will definitely have it masked off...

Its happened to me before where some nefarious metal got into the tank... you know right away... the tank will turn yellow and the power supply will spike off the charts. Neither of those happened so we got lucky this time. Masking it is an extremely easy process.

To further elaborate... its only an issue had my racking touched the ss ring. Had I would have seen if if I ended up racking directly to it.

So I Rebuilt my micromag valve for my yellow/black micro... leaking out the barrel... so I changed the spacer(purple ptp spacer) to the only other one i have(out of my minimag valve) and now the bolt sticks.... needless to say a level 10 kit is on the way instead of buy the spacer kit..! haha...I've heard the early gen micromags(1-3)have tolerance issues when installing a level 10 bolt, but gen 4-most recent are ok....i will cross that bridge once it is here.... Sent Forest at PTP my anodized PTP Intruder Housing to get rebuilt. Can't wait to get This micromag 100%!!! 2nd Micromag build to commence once this one is finished!

Both Micromags... side by side..... debating on what color scheme to do on the 2nd one?!?! the choices the choices.... 2nd micromag build on 2nd post in this thread
