View Full Version : Drawing a blank on the name for the old school drop forward you could swivel...

Title describes what's going on...I cannot for the life of me remember what the old drop forward/mount that had a spring is called. It was very short, very heavy, when mounted you could push the air tank forward and then swivel it to either side, lock it in place, and then the marker could stand up on its own. If you know what it's called please help a brother out, if you know where I could get my hands on one, help a brother out. I have tried every single combination of search terms to plug into google and I have scoured my usual online paintball stores section by section trying to find it

Going home- nope that's not it

Luke-101 is close! I remember those. Basically the same principle but kinda angled. I'll try and draw something up in a little bit...

So I know my drawing abilities leave something to be desired but you get the gist. The Asa mounts to the bottom of it. To mount it to the market u had to crank the spring down with an Allen key enough to get the mounting screws in and then backs the spring back out to the desired resistance. The teeth were noticeable and kept it from spinning on its own until you pushed the tank forward and turned it.

Ok I may have one of those actually.........

Never could get a tank to actually screw on with that kind.

Do you actually have one of those for sale or are you just teasing us?

I have one of the originals made by "LX3 (?) engineering" before the design was picked up by VL, but have been wanting a second one...

Also, I do know the drop that OP is talking about... can't remember what vendor sold it though. People seemed to complain that the spring that held it locked in was too weak.

That was just a picture I found during a google search.

I remember replacing a couple of them because the more I used it the weaker it got. Also didn't help that if you locked it down to remove it from your frame and left it like that till the next mounting it weakened the spring as well

I just noticed it is rotated upside down.

The VL one was much better.

Called The Sidekick, IIRC.

Does the VL have an angled mount? I've almost used this one before, but the angle combined with the drop throws me off. I have seen an emag from an old AGD team with one that looked right.

It's as ugly as the south end of a north bound mule.

Why would you want one anyway ?

Luke's angled wedge and a Bob Long Cam drive is the bomb.

Yeah the LX3/VL one is superior in my opinion, except that it is most likely heavier than the "Sidekick", which I think was the right name. I remember it was a Yahoo storefront that sold those...

The VL does not have an angled mount.

I used mine with a duckbill, which essentially sent the tank back nearly to the original bottomline/no-drop position, but simply offset to make it easier to tuck the shoulder/arm in behind the tank.

I mostly wanted to see if anyone remembered them, what they were called, and if any one had them in good condition...I remember the store I worked at had a bunch in back (mostly useless because of the springs being too loose but still. Never know what's out there. I do like Luke's wedge also
