View Full Version : Hopper Feedneck Specs

I'm going to start making feednecks but I need to gather some specs. I've purchased several feednecks and found specs all over the place, some don't even fit the hoppers I have so I need some help. Instead of using specifications from feednecks I want to gather measurements on the hoppers themselves. I'm getting two different measurements on each hopper (front to back and side to side) so I'm going with the widest at the midway point down the neck.

I have an old Viewloader Revolution and an old Halo, specs are as follows:

VL Revy > 1.03"
Halo > 1.08"

Any help would be most advantageous. :)

Thanks vintage.
Do the newer Halos break real easy like the originals? The plastic they used sucked pretty bad, way too brittle.

all measurements taken at .5" from the bottom of the neck (as necks usually get fatter as you go up, and this is what the measurement will be at the top of the feedneck when the hopper is inserted).

viewloader vl200: 1.02" f/b, 1.033" s/s
viewloader vl2000: 1.058" f/b, 1.077" s/s
jt revolution: 1.033" f/b, 1.055" s/s
proto primo: 1.043" f/b, 1.04" s/s
valken vmax: 1.057" f/b, 1.047" s/s
pinokio speed: 1.054" f/b & s/s
dye rotor: 1.051" f/b, 1.05" s/s
virtue spire: 1.044" f/b, 1.036" s/s

lol, i have a lot of stuff...

Thanks vintage.

the matte black shells seem tough enough. it's the clear / shiny plastic that will crack.

By any chance are you making any that would be compatible with empire style feednecks

Are the feednecks you're making going to be a standard thread? like "Angel" threaded? If so, would it be worth it to make your own? (not complaining, kinda looking forward to your designs :P)

Yes I will be sticking with the Angel thread like AGD to avoid confusion and stripped threads. I would really like to do a completely different attaching style, something unique that's never been done before but I don't think that would fly. People have it stuck in their minds what they want so I'll follow suit on this. I did go back a forth on what to do and just decided to keep it simple.
Would you rather get one with a body purchase or would would rather reach in your pocket and buy one? :)

I'm working on cad's now to help decide which way to go. Manufacturing and number of pieces to make are what's currently being weighed in the decision. Not 100% sure what will end up making the cut, hope to know within 24 hours. I'm kind of leaning in that direction though. ;)

I think that you sticking with Angel threads is a good idea as far as potential sales go. By using Angel threads you will be able so sell feednecks that can be used with pretty much any aftermarket Automag body. Had you gone with something different you would cut out those potential sales. Granted you could go with another know paintball feedneck thread and tried to sell them on other sites or through other avenues.

Yea, that's the thinking but I've always had plans on filling that slot regardless of what I use on the bodies. ;) I've just about finished up the design and am happy with the final decision. :)

Just to reiterate, the idea with selling body kits rather than just a body is to give you guys a better bang for your buck. TBH the cost of the "extra" parts in the kit will end but being closer to cost rather than retail.

Although they might not work on all bodies, I'm a fan of low profile like the discontinued Empire Nano or its cousin from Violent Series.

river was referring to the threaded collar and attachment style not necessary the clamping portion of the feedneck. I've finished the design, it's styled after the Empire (collar wise) although I did make changes to the design but you should still be able to interchange it with the Empire's cup. The clamping part of the feedneck (if it works out) can be removed from the collar leaving the collar in the body. There is some height adjustment for different bodies and the main design is more about minimal weight rather than something fancy.

Correct! Thanks for clarifying Luke.I was referring to the collar like the ones I had made a while back
