Visitor message as a pm?

Ok guys and gals. Maybe I'm alone here. But can we please put a stop to people doing all of there busuiness using visitor messages? I for one use the what's new button regularly and seeing questions that should go in pm or in the original threads where the questions arose from makes it a pain to sift thru useful updates.

Agreed. Is there a way to make it work more like a PM? As in, it doesn't list it on "What's New?" and send an e-mail notification to the recipient? Or get rid of them all together? I'm sure there's a purpose; I'm just not sure what it is.
