I have a tac-one rail I'd like to do some machining on. I noticed there is a small stainless plate on each side. Any idea how I can remove this? I don't want to send it flying while it's in the mill.

I assume you mean the ring and clip, inside the body on the valve side.

use a pic thru the sear slot to pull it out.

No he means the small plates on either side of the rail that cover up the holes where a sight rail screws into.

Yeah that little polished plate. It's like 1.75" long.

brain fart of the day. Ya i would use fire and a bent paperclip or allen key to push it from the inside.

I don't see any hole on the inside to push from. I could try and go from an egde with an icepick. That's the best idea I have so far.
Luke, do you removed them before you start cutting?

I apply heat with a soldering large iron and pick at it from one of the ends. They are somewhat of a PITA to pick out but heat helps.

I wouldn't try and machine the rail without first removing them.

That's what I was thinking, but it's nice that hear it from the experts.
Thanks all.
