OK. I went yesterday and I loved it. I am planning on getting one of my own. What four wheelers do you suggest?
I like my friend's Honda. Another friend of mine had a Yamaha. I didn't get a chance to test ride it because it wa sin the shop. Is any one like really into doing this?

im into fourwheeling, i have a 250cc yamaha timberwolf. i really like it and got it in 97 and i havent had any problems with it except for the normal things like new tires and battery. before that i had a yamaha tri z three wheeler which i rode to death. i plan on getting a 350cc yamaha warrior in the near future. a few of my dads friends have hondas and they are nice fourwheelers. i would recomend getting either a yamaha or a honda. are you looking to get more of a utility one with racks or a racing/sport fourwheeler?

I would definetly be useing it more off-road than anything else. I would consider buying yours in the future.

it all depends on how you are going to use it.. like for work, or fun or both. if you plan on using it for fun only, i would probably suggest ahonda 300ex, or a Yamaha blaster.

for "both" i would suggest a kawasaki Bayou 220 or uhh... Yamaha Woverine.. (4x4 i know but..) when im not at school i can really get you info.. but im not supposed to be here soo :)

so i'l add more this after noon

depends on how old you are and your build. I've been known to put around on 400EXs, Raptors, Banshees, and an occaisonal Warrior. These are all mean bikes intended for the 170 lb, 16+ group. If you're a wee tike just cresting the age of 13, your best bet is a Blaster. They're fun, and take a long time to out grow.

im gonna list some decent choices im gonna make an estimate at your weight.... lets say 150-160

HONDA:
~300ex (300cc)
~250ex (250cc)
~Recon 250 (250cc)

YAMAHA:
~Blaster (200cc)
~Woverine 4x4 (350cc)[maybe]
~Bear Tracker (230cc)

KAWASAKI:
~Lakota (300cc) [a lil racey at times]
~Mojave 250 (250cc)
~Bayou 300 (300cc)
~Bayou 220 (220cc)
~Prairie 300 (300cc)

SUZUKI:
~Quad Runner LT250 (250cc)
~Quad Runner LT160 (160cc) [super fun lil quad.. i have this one)

since you live in texas, i only gave you 2x4's (except for woverine) and also because its your first one, and 4x4 arent as much as a thrill. i left out polaris because they are automatic and not as fun.

i wouldnt suggest going over 350cc.

good luck

honda 250ex would be perfect for you if you dont plan on hauling anything. they are sporty looking and fairly quick but would be a decent size for you. im likw 5'11'' 190lbs and my 250 yamaha timberwolf is perfect for me. i have been riding since i was like 7 thats why the timberwolf is getting a bit boring and not light and fast enough for me. i wouldnt recomend anything ove 300-350cc if you arent very big and this being your first fourwheeler. you might not want to get a blaster because it has a kickstart no reverse and is a 2 stroke. it may be a little two jumpy and fast for a begginer but once you learn how to ride it, it will be a lot of fun. also 2 strokes require more maitnence.

Thanks guys. I talked to my friend today and he said what we rode on were Honda 300EXs. I got the hang of those. I got it up to 4th. It was fun. It fit me fairly well.

But what do I know...lol

Get the 400ex I have one and love it. It is sweet in the trails and it is a great jumper. Its power is always right there. Plus its gas and go not to mention it has electronic start. No reverse but you learn to deal with it. Reverse is for backing it up of the truck or trailer:p
But I would wait a bit cause there are supposed to be some really nice quads coming out. I believe honda has a 450 in the works and suzuki has a new sport quad out on the market also. Not sure about yamaha cause they just came out with the raptor.
Best thing to do is try to ride as many as you can to see what you like. Also go to the dealers and ask soem questions they can be really helpfull.

any thoughts on Bombardier? They have a Baja DS650 or something out right now that's supposed to be FAAAST. I have yet to see one, which is probably due to yet another outrageous Bombardier MSRP (around 10k).

oh yah, what about Cannondale?

The Bombardier is a big, heavy, and long bike. Its only good in the dunes, they call it the dune demon. Not a very good mx or trail bike.
The Cannondale is a sweet quad. Its actully fuel injected like your car. It has a custom aluminum frame and all types of other race goodies. www.cannondale.com/motorsports/ (http://www.cannondale.com/motorsports/) here you can cneck it out.
www.bombardier-vtt.com/this should get you to the bombardier.

Kawasaki Bayou 300 is what I have and would buy another one. I think its the only one with four seperate suspension shocks. Other Kawasaki models and most other manufacturers use a single pivot shock in the rear and two up front. I find the Four seperate adjustable spring over shocks to be more stable and the turning radious is a little tighter for some reason. I think only the Bayou series has four shocks and most other manufacturers I see have three also. Might be some I have not noticed though. The 300 Bayou comes in both 4X2 with a lock-able rear Diff and in 4X4. These are about $4200 - $4600 now.

personally i think that the 400ex would be a bit big for you if you are a begginer, the 300ex would be fine. the bombardier is nice but is made for dunes and has a funky suspension. the new canaodayle bike is really nice. it is made out of aircraft aluminum i think so it is as light as a feather. it also has a pretty large price tag too.
