i currently run a 68 ci, 3000 psi nitro tank on my 'mag. I want a tank that will give me more shots. my question: which will give me more, a 88ci 3000psi or a 68ci 4500psi?
thanks guys

uhm... do the math

88x3000=264000

68x4500=306000

the 68 will hold more

I am pretty sure there's a simple equation that tells you the average amount of shots you get out of tank.

wow was that a stupid question. i dont see many math problems with real numbers anymore.

i think the average equation for measuring shots on nitro tanks is 10 shots per cu on a 3k psi tank and 15 shots per cu on a 4.5k tank

Not so fast there, mathy-Mcgee's! Take into account output pressure...

output pressure notwithstanding. The air capacity in a bottle will always be the same. Size times pressure.

banzai is right. output pressure and amount of gas per shot will stay relatively constant and are not factors.

For a 3000 tank, multiply th Cubic Inches By 10.
So, 88 X 10 =880
For a 4500 tnak, multiply by 15
so, 68 X 15 = 1020

Well... that is all assuming you can drain the tank down to zero pressure. You must subtract from that the number of cubic inches you must leave to obtain minimal valve operation and you are getting a better idea of actual shot capacity of the tank.

And, as we know. barrel types and sizes play another role in tryin to use any set figure and be acurate.

Don't forget most paintball fields don't do 4500 fills they only do 3K, so figure that in as well. But you can always get a PMI 88/45 Stubby and have the best of both worlds.

go by your comfort level I like smaller but if you keep the little one I'd go with a 88/4500 I got big and small one for speed ball the other for scenario and what not
